Just wondering if these are worth paying for purely for reassurance reasons. My 20week scan was fine. I'm now 23+2 and thinking about paying for a growth scan at around 29weeks. Babybond charge £99 and my nearest private hospital charge £130 including doppler blood flow. Is it worth the expense?

Is there any reason why you think you need a growth scan? The hospital would do it for you for free if you were measuring too small or too big?

Do you just mean you want an extra private scan? Babybond etc do reassurance / bonding / gender / 3D / just because its a tuesday scans

If there is a medical need you'll get it on the NHS. I had one (on NHS) at 34 weeks with DD as GP was worried I was measuring small, although I thought it was fine (as she was moving lots) - and scan confirmed baby of average size and plenty of fluid.

I am not really sure what reassurance you get - that your baby is still ok? well you can hear heartbeat at GP on doppler for free and you can feel it move. That the size is ok? By the time thats important midwife will feel how big it is at appointments.

Sounds like total waste of money to me. Of course if you are so rich that £100 is nothing then why not?

I had a private scan at 21 week's because at my 20 week scan they couldn't see the sex so i paid for one and they gave me a 4d scan and it was AMAZING would def recommend. mind you towards the end of pregnancy i had complications so had to have lot's more scans so really could of found out the sex in either one of those, but still if i have another one i would def do it again :-)
