Blood pressure

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

1st week - 120/80
11th week - 110/70
22nd week - 90/60
today
22 + 5 (different place having just run there)
170/100 then 156/100 (20 secs cool down later)

In 4 days I've gone from 'ooo that's fairly low' to 'your high blood pressure is a concern, 2nd appointment tomorrow'

She (nurse visit unrealted to pregnancy) was a cow. First ummed at my weight (bmi 23 which I thought was reasonable for this point!) then 'low' exercise (yoga/ walking/ exercise video weekly). Then stressed me out about high blood pressure and told me to cut out salt ( I don't ever cook with salt and cook from stratch every night...).

I feel pretty crap now. Should I be worried? Could it be the run there (she wouldn't re-take it after a few min to see if it had fallen). I've gone from happy and relaxed to stressed and worried in one go. It was such a bad experience. My midwife appointments have all been lovely with no concerns and now this woman has made me feel like a lazy salt gluzzing mess! On top of the hormones and sore throat/ headache I've got it was horrible. She barely spoke to me apart from curt sentences, in and out in 2 min and no listening.

To cap it off my husband had the next appointment (new doc appointments) and she asked him why he married a women of my nationally consiering his (and her) nationally!!! His appointment was a chatty 15 min (the scheduled length).

They like the bottom figure to remain under 90. I don't know all the correct terms-sorry! I had raised BP with DC3&4 from about week 20. If it consistently stays above 90 they will prescribe betablockers to lower your bloodpressure. I was on Labetalol. There were a few side effects - drowsiness, light headedness etc but they were very mild.
I dont think yours falls into this category just yet. It sounds like you were quite stressed. The MW should suggest coming to see you and take your bp when you are at home next time.
Above all try to keep calm, long deep breaths, in through your nose and out of your mouth.
Good Luck tomorrow, hope its lower!

I'm on labetalol at the moment because my blood pressure was up from about 110/60 early in pregnancy to 140/95.

It totally could be the running! In fact it probably was. 20 seconds is not enough time to cool down - you're not meant to take blood pressure for 20 minutes after any exercise.

I too hope it is lower tomorrow. When's your next ante natal appointment?

I can't believe that as well as that she said something so overtly racist. I'd complain about her. It's not on.

Oh also did she dipstick your urine for protein? I am guessing not.

Make them do that tomorrow just in case it is pre eclampsia. I'm sure it isn't but you have to be careful.

Hi thank you for the replies. No protein and after a long rest it was 140/90 which is still high considering it's 6 days since it was 90/60 so going back for a another check on Friday.
Got a bad cold and sore throat feel sh*t

Hope things have improved tomorrow, Kate and that your cold gets better. Let us know.

I'm having another check up tomorrow as well.

How many weeks are you? I'm coming up for 32.

The tablets have bought it down a bit - it is about 128/88 now.
