Low amniotic fluid - anyone else?

Am 38+5 and was sent for a growth scan last week as the midwife was concerned I was small for dates. Was advised that the baby is fine (heartbeat strong and lots of movement), but will not be too big (6 pounds-ish). However, they also said that the level of my amniotic fluid was quite low (just within normal range - 5.4 I think, but on the low side). I was scanned again yesterday, and have to go back again on Friday for yet another scan. Induction has been mentioned, but only if the fluid levels drop below normal and/or it looks like the baby struggling (no sign of this at the minute). Does anyone else have experience of this, and did everything turn out to be fine? I understand that the low volume of fluid would explain why my bump has never been really big. I am not really worried, as I assume they would have induced me by now if there was really a problem - it seems like they are just being cautious. But it would be reassuring to hear from anyone else with experience of this.
