Hi All,
I just wanted to share this email my wonderful mum sent me today as it was just what i needed to hear and I thought it might cheer up some other 1st time mums..

Hello favourite daughter and bump, and future son-in-law, How is the snowy south?
You sounded a little bit down the other day so here are a few cheery words.
Babies are wonderful.
Cuddling a warm soft infant is a joy.
The smell of a newborn after a bath is heaven.
Babies exude love.
Children keep you young.
There are hundreds more but believe me the pure joy you and Colin (brother) have given me over the years cannot be described on paper. I am thrilled at the prospect of being a Granny but even more am I delighted that you and Chris will get to experience that joy. I know you will make fantastic parents. I look foreword to seeing it all.
Remember, no one will know your child like you. read all the books, listen to all the advice, and then do what comes naturally. It works, and if it doesn't be a little forgiving of yourself. The baby hasn't read the book so there are no right and wrongs.
If all else fails, ask mum!
Love you lots and lots, Mum

I'm definately getting her a special b/day pressie this year LOL
Perhaps other mums might like to share some positive advice to us first timers? Give us a break from all the "You have nooooo idea!" knowing comments and various nightmare stories!!! :O)

Aww, that's so lovely!

Babies are an amazing way of wasting time - I used to spend hours just staring at my firstborn and thinking how amazing it was that we made him!!

The first time they smile at you it's absolutely magical.

The first time they sleep through the night is a fantastic experience.

Being a mother is the most scary, but most rewarding job in the world

The first time they toddle up to you and give you a kiss. You'll never forget that moment.

Children give you such joy, it makes the hard work so worthwhile. You'll love it and on the occasions you're not, it soon passes.

BTW, you're already going to give your mum the best ever present by having her grandchild
