Maternity coats - anyone found a nice, cheap one?

Am 14 weeks and about to pop out of my non-maternity coat

Thought I might be able to ride it out without having to buy a maternity coat but it doesn't look likely...

So, has anyone got a decent coat they'd recommend? Am skintos so can't afford much

I got a non maternity one from Tesco for only £18 - I am normally a size 12 but bought a 16, sounds silly but it looks ok as it's bubble shaped. It's called F&F Ovoid formal coat. I found it quite tricky post xmas to find a reasonably priced maternity coat as all the spring wear has already come in! For £18 it's a bargain! Good luck!

Bought the next size up. Looks smart and is nice and warm.

I bought a mamas and papas one badly listed on ebay for 2.20!!! I also bought a black sort of lightweight but water repellent material with a hood and drawstring waist in next size up from Primark it was 8 quid!! I can still do it up now and am 40+11!! I sold the m and p one for a tenner on ebay . What size are you as this black size 14 coat will need a new home as I'm being induced tomorrow !!!

Any of the bubble coats in the sale, prefer to swing as they don't flap open. They are HUGE round the belly, I'll easily go full term in mine, also I don't look pregnant in it which can be a refrshing change. Consider one size up for the bust though.

pigleychez · 18/01/2010 20:35

The tesco swing coat has two button inside so that I doesnt flap open.

humptynumpty · 18/01/2010 20:39

I got the swing coat too, it is warm and relatively waterproof, would recommend! Just got a bigger size

I got a lovely one from New Look - it is bright blue, double breasted and was £35. It was from the maternity section. It doesn't seem to be on the website now so not sure if that means they aren't stocking it any more - maybe it will be in the sale if you look in a big store? I bought it around late October I think.

mama2moo · 18/01/2010 21:07

pigleychez That is the one I have! I should have read the other posts. I love it, I think I will get one in my normal size too.

butadream · 18/01/2010 21:08

I got a nice red one from Asda

BettyButterknife · 20/01/2010 11:04

I hadn't even thought about getting a normal coat in a bigger size - those options all sound brilliant, thanks everyone

Oh yes buy a bubble or cape coat that can be worn post baby

La Redoute have some lovely ones, some in the sale too.

SqueezyB · 23/01/2010 15:22

I just got one for a tenner on ebay, it's fab! By Red Herring at Debenhams. It's worth keeping an eye on ebay, as people only wear them for a few months a second hand coat is bound to be in pretty good condition.
