Is it true that all pregnancies are different?

Hi there,

Had my DS in July 2008, so he's nearly 18months. Am starting to think about having another baby, specifically after my wedding in Aug.

However, I had a HORRIBLE pregnancy before, incredibly sick and then breathless and basically lost nine months of my life. Motherhood has been a breeze compared!

My mum told me she thought I was being stupid to think about having another at the moment. She doesn't think I could cope and it would all be left to her. I live in the middle of nowhere and I don't drive, so I would be left by myself while my DP goes to work.

However, loads of people have also said that every pregnancy is different, and I might not be so ill next time.

I really don't want to leave five year gaps between kids, I'd like three at least and I'm already 32.

What I would like to know is if others have had similar awful pregnancies and then been fine the next time round.

Is my mum right? Am I being stupid and a bit selfish in wanting this?

TIA

Go for it!

I had an awful first pregnancy, and as you say, motherhood was a breeze in comparison! I became pregnant again just 10 months after my first baby, and the pregnancy was a lot better. It was still hard of course being pregnant with a lively toddler, but I don't have nay regrets.

My last pregnancy was the best - very enjoyable.

There is no guarantee of course but think about the baby, not about the pregnancy!

When I had dd 6 years ago I was sick for the full 9 months, anaemic the lot and it was a miserable time, fast forward just under 2 years and was pg with ds, absolutely no sickness, loads of enery, god iron levels sailed through in comparison.
I am pg again now and am admittedly pretty tired but I am a bit older, have 2 dc's already and a part time job so I suppose to be expected but so far this is the most well I have felt out of all 3 of them so you really do never know.

Yes - I am currently freaked out because I am on my third pregnancy and not feeling too bad!!

DS - awful sickness, exhausted, felt really ill the whole time. Used to lie on the sofa crying. Couldnt walk far.

DD - ditto but had a toddler to look after

This pregnancy I feel dizzy and nauseas but ok - can walk about. I am only sick once or twice a day most days! I would never have believed I could feel like this in pregnancy. I have colour in my cheeks, can laugh, sometimes even feel like I vaguely have energy. Its most odd.

This so far (touch wood) is definitely my easiest pregnancy.

yes my second pregnancy was AWFUL I was ill pretty much throughout from sickness, chest infection, then high blood pressure and preeclampsia with dizziness etc throughout. My first pregnancy was normal and my third I barely noticed!

they are all different although I have found sickness to be constant throughout all of them.
