Hi,

So I'm new to all of this. Found out 2 weeks ago I'm expecting our 1st child. All planned but still a little worried.

I'm looking for people in a similar position to talk to and go through this with

Thanks

Hi all
MudandRoses - have you tried Maalox? Im pretty sure Zantac is safe in pregnancy too but double check. I have ferocious problems with my tum so I keep portions really small. I eat every hour rather than having meals as such. Too much dairy can aggravate the problem and foods that are too cold can too. I dont drink and eat at the same time either. Its such an awful feeling - hope yours eases up soon!

Hi all fellow mummys-to-be!
I found out today I'm due my second on 6th September, not planned but welcome surprise.
I apologise I only skimmed through the posts.

MudandRoses · 08/02/2010 22:16

Welcome Stephysfamous and Peggyolson.
I am on Omeprazole, MammyG - and it seems to be working - today was the first day i've felt ok! It's such a relief. I'd reached much the same conclusions as you, through trial and error - eating pretty much constantly but tiny amounts (and I literally do seem to have to eat constantly in the evening); not eating and drinking at the same time. Strangely I was advised to have a cup of hot milk to combat acid, and it does seem to help, i sometimes have one before bed.

I find it really strange how my body seems to be a on a weird timetable - eg, at 5pm I start feeling awful, round 6 i'm ravenous, eat a meal and suffer for a while, but once that's done i'm fine - apart from the crazy hunger which i dont have during the day! I also feel like my belly is much bigger in the evening - always have to undo my trouser button - what's that about??

Hey there,

Found out that I was pregnant 4 weeks ago. Am now 8 weeks pregnant and due on 21st September. Its very exciting and totally planned but still in shock as its taken us a while to conceive (its my first and I'm 40). Had to take four pregnancy tests before I believed it!

Have been feeling nauseous, ridiculously tired and starving most of the time..... Finding it tough as although we want to keep it quiet until our 12 week scan, I feel that I want to talk to other friends who have had babies and compare symptoms and feelings etc. Plus most of my close friends know we have been trying for a while so I am sure they are sussing me out - the one normally never to say no to an invite out is now making excuses to stay home all the time!!! Hopefully you guys know what I am going through as you are feeling it too.

well had my booking in appointment at the hospital yesterday, came away with another tree worth of information and a date for scan on 8 March. All ok apart from 2 issues.

One of the first questions she asked was whether I'd ever used any recreational drugs. I said yes, but it was over 15 years ago. She said it would be added to my notes and someone may or may not ring to discuss it - wtf!! So now there's a big note saying "has used drugs" on my file!!! Stupid me for being honest I suppose.

The other issue was my urine sample. Had completely forgotten and the only thing I could find was an old jam jar, which I cleaned out thoroughly, I thought. So she tested it for glucose and it came up +1. Had to do another sample, which then came up +2. Lots of questions on what I'd eaten that day - porridge, satsumas, marmite on toast, and some rasin bread and an apple just before I went in as I was starving. Turns out raisins could have affected the result, but she also decided that marmite was high in sugar, which it's not. Have to go back for a proper glucose test at 16 weeks. So the moral of the tale is don't eat anything before you wee!!

Apart from that feeling thankfully and surprisingly fine. Still got sore boobs but only waves of sickness nothing that fresh air and twiglets don't seem to fix. Sorted out the constipation with prune juice (bleughh)

Just seems to be a lot of hanging about at the moment, with my lack of symptoms I wouldn't be surprised if they don't find anything!

So hope everyone else is doing ok and finding ways to cope with their symptoms.

Hellew!
littlebigfish We have the same due date! this is my third so am wrecked too all of the time. Actually just wanted to cry getting out of bed this morning - the thought of facing a classroom of little ones was just too much for my knackered head.
This is also my first pregnancy where I am getting nauseous - not a nice experience! You may get rumbled alright but most people dont say anything until you announce then its all 'oh i thought you were alright!'

Crap day today - not enough sleep at all last night thanks to icky tum, overactive bladder and two year old wanting a drink at 5.30am! Top it off my poor dad is really not well at all today and everyone is bleary and teary at how quickly he is fading. My brother and his family are around at the moment which is lovely tho tinged with sadness.
Anyway - must finish work and to bed to see if I can muster the strength for another day! Had loads of lovely kisses from my scrummy little boys to make me feel better this eve tho - lucky me.

MudandRoses · 11/02/2010 11:12

Hey MammyG
Hope you are feeling better today - I have so much admiration for anyone managing a Proper Job and 2 other kids while p/g!! So sorry about your dad. Must make everything even harder. Have you told him about your pregnancy?

MnR

MammyG · 11/02/2010 21:50

Hi MnR
Ya told my dad as am due on his birthday! I told him when i was 5 weeks so he was all excited but we have since had the news that there is not much chance he will be here in september so not mentioning it much now.
Ok day to day - was seeing doctor about stomach problems. He was the first positive doctor i met who at least wants to help but with being pregnant there are a lot of test he cannot run. Endoscopy in two weeks to see whats going on and ruling out other tests really unless the illnes threatens my pregnancy. Another thing to worry about!
Going away for long weekend next week tho so leaving all worries behind for 4 lovely days with just my DH
Hope all is well

whirleywoo72 · 12/02/2010 17:49

Hello, everybody, well my 4 th is due in september, my youngest is 14 yrs, and 5 consecutive miscarries, since, so im 8 wks pregnant and being careful and well lazy, i am scared, but everything looking good, feeling ill, sore boobs, tired, and constipation, and peeing passed myself, the boobs were only sore, when i gave birth and the milk was drying up xx

CLB1 · 14/02/2010 13:26

Hay Lady's,

Well I'm sorry to say I'm leaving you all. I hope your pregancies go well and it's everything you hoped it to be and that you get the support you need throughout.

I misscarried on Wednesday night and was admitted to hospital until Friday Night. Very sore and still at a loss, but they say these things happen for a reason.

Hopefully I will be joining one of the other threads in the near future.

To answer willthecatbejealous the maternity ward at pinderfields isn't going to be open until next year, which is a bummer. I had to go to Dewsbury when admitted as no where else had beds avaliable, and I must say the staff were excellent, I couldn't have asked for more in that situation.

Good Luck to you all x x
