Hi all,
Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

HellysBelles - you will hear stories similar to yours from almost everyone woman who has had a baby! My first pregnancy I didnt realie until I was 7 weeks. Kept thinking because my boobs were sore and I was crampy that my period was any day now! Went two weddings - both weekend long affairs! and it was over the summer so it was all party and indulgence. Both pregnancy and baby were fine. Dont worry just mind yourself from here on out.

Jiji100 · 24/01/2010 08:27

Hi,

I found out last week that I am expecting our first too. I'm booked to see the doc on Thursday so it feels a bit unreal at the moment.

I've got really sore boobs too - can't really lie on my front and have the most sensitive sense of smell ever but no sickness. The only thing close was listening to a conversation about food that made me feel sick!

I can't believe how slow this week has been waiting for the doctors appt!

ceebs05 · 24/01/2010 10:22

Hi, can I joins too?

Discovered on Friday that I am pregnant with our first and according to LMP my EDD is 29th Sept, although not sure how accurate this is due to variations in cycle. Will be 5 weeks on Tuesday according to date of LMP.

Have really sore boobs and queasiness that comes and goes. Going to phone the doctors tomorrow and find out when I should be seeing someone and if I need to see GP or if I just go straight to community midwives - from looking at other threads procedures seem to vary across areas.

Still can't believe it - feels very unreal. Just want the next few weeks to go in quickly but I guess this is not likely!

fluster · 24/01/2010 10:42

HellysBelles · 24/01/2010 11:29

Thanks MammyG, glad to hear all went well for you and feel better knowing it's a fairly common occurrence! In fact it's been good to have a wake-up call to get a bit healthier - so yup, body is a temple from now on in!

MammyG · 24/01/2010 12:06

Hi all
Hellybelles - Patrick Holford has a great before during and after prenancy health book that includes supplement advice etc. i have a fair few health issues and just find his the soundest advice.
Jiji100 - My DH says early pregnancy is like having spidey senses! Or some other super hero. Its so mad!
Fluster & ceebs05- congrats!

TiggieWiggle · 24/01/2010 12:21

Hi there

Just got BFP a couple of days ago. Not sure if my DD will be late Sept or early Oct - depends which due date calculator I try!

It will be our second - already have a DD1 who is nearly 4 - My nickname is after the little dance she does when she wants a wee but can't be bothered to go ;-)

OzKate · 25/01/2010 01:52

Well my hair is now highlighted within am inch of it's life, feel much better, hairdresser said it was absolutely fine as she's not plastering the colour on my scalp as such. The only thing she would be wary of would be all over extreme platinum blond or something like that!

Am now 9 weeks and heading home to Adelaide on Tuesday, mmm, flight she be fun, locked in a confined space for hours on end and my mood up and down like a rollercoaster!! There could be some serious air rage!

Hope everyone is well!!

designerjooles · 25/01/2010 18:45

Hello all!
Congratulations to everyone!
I have realised however, that i have the earliest due date on this thread - eeeeeekkk!
I am pregnant for the first time and very excited and can't wait to have my first scan - which hasn't even been booked. I think they are quite relaxed down here in Brighton!
My EDD is 4 September and we have told our families but not friends as yet.
I have been so ill - i haven't been able to go out so it has not been hard to keep it from our friends as i haven't seen anyone. I am hoping that the first trimester symptoms will lift soon!

Hope you all are well...

SkaterGrrrrl · 25/01/2010 21:14

Congrats to the September mums!

My symptoms so far:

  • Mild nausea throughout the day (goes away when I eat crackers)

  • Have blacked out 5 or 6 times (usually when standing up too fast)

  • Have gone right off coffee

  • Am sleeping like it's going out of fashion.

*HUGE achey boobs. Im an F cup normally, I must now be a G. Sleeping in a bra already and I'm only one month gone, hate to think how big they're going to get.

OzKate · 25/01/2010 22:54

Really strange symptom, not very nice, but over the last four days I gag when I brush my teeth!!! I haven't been nauseous at all so I have no idea what that's all about! Make's for some lovely sound effects for our neighbours first thing in the morning though!

jbakedbean · 26/01/2010 22:39

2nd timer here, edd 4th sept and most of my friends know, my partner has a habit of telling the really important people like family, and then his dd put on facebook how she was excited to have another bro or sis. so then it had to come out, which is a bit of a shame as I'm quite enjoying keeping it quiet at work and having my little secret.

The way I see it is if anything does go wrong then I'll need all the support I can get, plus I can't lie for toffee.

I do completely understand why people do keep it a secret until 12 weeks, but with our families it just isn't possible. Plus my DP needed someone to talk to about it as it was unexpected.

Good luck to us all x

firefly101 · 27/01/2010 10:49

Hello, can I join?

Just had a positive test result, very excited, 1st pregnancy, due 29th Sept according to the MNs calculator.

Went to Docs but they just took my details and said the Midwife would call me at around 10 weeks, is this normal? Not sure what I expected...otherwise all going well so far.

legallyblond · 27/01/2010 13:54

Hi there. I am due in Sept too.. in fact, I have the same EDD as you firefly, 29 Sept! And its my first time....!

I found out on Sunday... all very exciting and it was planned, but it happed the first month we tried, so I was sort of counting on having a little longer to get used to the idea. It went form "we're trying" to "I'm pregnant" in the space of 4 weeks!

I went to see my GP for the first time today and had a similar experience to you firefly. But I've spoken to others and apparently its normal. Unless something goes wrong (like you start bleeding etc), nothing really happens until your "booking appointment" with the midwife at 8/10 weeks, then the scan and, in my area, downs symdrome scan/bloods at 12 weeks.

I was surprised though that I had to choose my hospital today at the doctors! I had no idea, I just went for the newer hospital with more facilities.

How is everyone feeling? I feel so tired its like I've been drugged....

x x

SkaterGrrrrl · 27/01/2010 14:10

There's a September thread in Ante Natal Clubs

firefly101 · 27/01/2010 16:43

Thanks legallyblond, it's good to know that I've not missed anything! I was rather expecting them to retest just to make sure, as we also started ttc on 1st Jan, so I don't think it's actually sunk in yet.

Agree the tirdness is unbelievable, and I may have to tell work sooner than I planned as I drove 100 miles to see a client this week, but can't go on doing those sort of trips!

CLB1 · 27/01/2010 18:50

Hi OzKate,

hoopyloopycow - #2 - EDD 15th Sept
WhiteRoses - #1 - EDD 17th Sept
greekbird - #1 - EDD 20th Sept
MudandRoses - #2 - EDD 16 Sept (but i reckon the 22nd!)
CLB1 - #1 - EDD 08th Sept
OzKate - #? EDD ?

what number child this will be and EDD is when you think your due.

I have called in sick due to sickness lastweek but I was throwing up every hour, I think it was the multi-vitamins I was taking as I stopped taking and I stopped being sick .

Hope everyone is doing okay

CLB1 · 27/01/2010 19:05

okay so I read the wrong page silly me....

I was surprised I had to choose the hospital we want to deliver in in my booking in appt. I hadn't taken my partner to the appt so had to chose on my own.

I feel kinda lost at the mo as the dr's haven't confirmed I'm pregnant yet but I've had my booking appt and waiting for my scan date.. I'm about 8weeks ish. Doesn't seem very real apart from the symptoms -
Sore Boobs
Sickness
Constantly Tired
And very Constipated

OzKate I know someone at work who said they have the same reaction when the brush their teeth, should just add it to the list of odd thing happening to our bodies

Hi Everyone
I had first midwife appointment today(am6+1), EDD is now 17th September again, got my maternity pack, booklet and filled in the form for the free prescriptions.

I will go back to her in 5 weeks, around same time as the dating scan.

Got the swine flu jab early Feb also.

However, like CLB1, she has not confirmed I am pregnant, it seems she is just taking my word and personals tests as confirmation. Weird really as you would think thats the first thing they would do.

I am stricken with sore boobs still, they even feel like the insides are a different texture. Still wee-ing in the middle of the night (and cant drop off back to sleep), and still tired. BUT no morning sickness (yet).

As i am nearly 38 she hs recommended I dont have the 3in1 test as says it will confirm I am high risk, purely down to my age, so we have opted to have the Nuchal test privately (not offered on NHS in Leeds apparently). I will not be following this up with an Amnio regardless though because of the risk of mc.

On a lighter note my cousin is 3 weeks away from birth and keeps reminding me to cherish these times

Anyway good luck to you all and hope my update helped some of you xx

firefly101 · 28/01/2010 21:40

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all doing well, I had a surprise today...went bra shopping during my lunch break, after finding nothing in my underwear draw fits me. Got measured.....34G!!!! Couldn't believe it (normally 34D) I'm not even 6 weeks yet!

Also been looking into getting an early scan (privately) not sure if I will or just wait (impatiently..) to see midwife, but it nice to know the option is there if wanted.

Glad your appointments went well "CLB1" and "willthecat"

firefly101 · 28/01/2010 21:54

opps...that was meant to put the names in bold...sorry

CLB1 · 28/01/2010 22:36

Hay willthecatbejealous,

I see in your last message that your in leeds? Have you decided which hospital you will be delivering at yet?

I'm from Wakefield and chose Jimmies as it is the easiest to get to for me and my partner.

Hay Firefly101,
I know what you mean about your boobs getting bigger, I'm a 36E normally and am scared to get measured again. I have had to start wearing none under wire bra's for comfort because like willthecatbejealous they are very sore and also feel alot firmer.

willthecatbejealous · 06/02/2010 13:15

Hi CLB1 , only just seen your message. I picked LGI as its 5 minutes away from where I work so easier for scans etc. How come you had the choice of Jimmy's, I thought Pinderfields had the new maternity now?

Re the bra situation, so far have bought a sports bra - rubbish, a support bra, better but boobs are literally popping out of it after a week of on and off wearing so off to town to get measured and strapped up he he he.

MudandRoses · 06/02/2010 21:19

Hi everyone

Been a while; I've been busy surfing threads like "help Acid reflux nightmare!"...I never thought pregnancy could feel so crap

hope everyone else is bearing up better. I seem to spend all day every day thinking of how to get relief from stomach pain/acid reflux/wind/cramps/feeling sick at smelling food. It's horrible, and somehow the fact that my pregnancy with my son was so different is making it harder! I almost feel like I can't begin to bond with this one.

It's nice to be able to vent here, anyway. I quite like that this thread only as a few of us on it - the other one in Postnatal Clubs is a bit overwhelming!

Went to the midwife last week - neither she nor the doc have actually confirmed my pregnancy themselves, which is kind of funny - I could be making it up (except why would you?). She gave me a bundle of forms and told me not to eat citrus fruit, and that was about it!
Brighton - they really are more laid back - or maybe they just see so many p/g ladies down here!

PeggyOlson · 07/02/2010 17:32

My first one too, aged 39. Approx date at the moment is 20 Sep but I reckon it will be a week later. Feel like I am vaguely carsick almost all of the time, but it's bearable at the moment and no-one seems to have twigged. Things were starting to be put in my work diary for Sep, so I told my manager on Friday with strict instructions not to tell anyone else until the scan. Feels odd that she knows and no-one else, not even the grandparents, but she is being lovely and supportive about it so far.
