Help with relieving cough symptoms

Hi all
I'm 8 weeks and off work with a bad cold, I'd prefer not to take any medications but my chest is very sore from coughing and it is getting to me.
Any suggestions or just sympathy would be welcome!

Heaps of sympathy ... do inhalants like olbas oil/ Vicks vaporub do anything for you? You can take paracetamol as well, but can't think of anything else. If you can stagger to the chemist (or better still delegate someone), the pharmacist will be able to advise.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the advice, I've been useing Olbas oil but it doesn't seem to be helping much.
I've had some honey to sooth throat which really helped and a long shower which was also good. I slept all afternoon too and feel better for that!

I drink lemon and honey but find that it although it gives immediate relief it doesn't actually get rid of the cough. I also find it helps if I stay indoors, over christmas I was like a hermit I hardly went out at all and felt all the better for it.
