Hi,
Did you have a smear whilst pregnant?
I had a colposcopy whilst pregnant, it just involved looking at my cervix under a microscope, no risk at all to pregnancy as far as I know.
Sometimes during a colposcopy examination they take a biopsy from the cervix. I DID NOT HAVE THIS DONE WHILST PG, not sure if this is safe??? But it is fine to just look under the microscope.
When was your last smear?

my last smear was in March 2009, was supposed to have another in September but nurse refused to do it!
Then consultant said he wanted to do a Colposcopy!
Thank you!!!

If you have CIN2 then the colposcopy and any biopsies needed Im sure can wait until after youve delivered.

I had CIN4 and waited 8 weeks for my appointment, so Im sure delaying for a few weeks wont cause you any harm

Phone the clinic today, and explain the situation, they'll advise you accordingly.

Good luck with your birth!

thank you for your replies I shall get onto the clinic this afternoon.

I agree, I'm sure it can wait until after baby is born, I think CIN2 is moderate changes to cells on the cervix, so still has quite a few stages to go through before you have to start worrying.

just to update, spoke to consultant today and he saya he still wants to do it as I may be having a c-section so he needs to wiegh up all the possible risks or something for when he decides mode of delivery at 36 weeks!

But thank you for all your comments and CIN2 are only moderate like foxy said so I feel more relaxed about it now!
