Hello

38 weeks pregnant with third child and been engaged since 34 weeks which I know is not common for subsequent pregnancies but I know a few people who were.

AAAAAAAnyway, last night I was woken constantly with a pressure in my pelvis and perenium, so strong like the baby was trying to get out. This morning when I got up I was so aware of the baby dropping even lower.

I have been walking like a cowboy all day with my legs wide apart - not a good luck. Just got back from Sainsburys in the car and I found it so hard to drive especially breaking so no more driving for me until after baby arrives I think.

I can not imagine hobbling around like this for two weeks or more, its very painful and walking about is really uncomfortable. I did not experience this kind of pressure with engagement with my other two.

Please tell me this means labour is almost here and not a fortnigh away. Its too much to bare.

Anyone else experience this kind of pressure and then went into labour soon after?

Thanks

When I was expecting my third, it I felt as if a large fist was being pressed down hard on the inside of my cervix from about 37-38 weeks onwards. It was very uncomfortable and I can totally relate to you.

Labour was not imminent, however. I was induced at 42 weeks. On the plus side, labour was only 20 mins! You can take some comfort from that, I hope.

no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont say that

i was the same with ds 3 weeks back (my 3rd) and i'm sorry to say also was like it for a good few weeks he engaged fairly early too.

i to was induced

but we are all different and either way, you're nearly there!!

devotion · 13/01/2010 20:05

can i just ask when both of your first two labours started?

dd1 was her due date
dd2 was two days past due date.

OP posts:

DC1 36 weeks
DC2 more or less due date

I'm really hoping to start naturally for my fourth as I want a home birth, but that may not happen.

madmissy · 13/01/2010 20:17

DD1 was 2 days early
DD2 was 2 weeks early- but induced
DS1 was 3 days early but induced- long story lol

so not much to go by me!

madmissy · 13/01/2010 20:18

Promised DH that I would def not want more after this one so why I'm on the pregancy boards i don't know!

devotion · 13/01/2010 20:37

oh dear!

i just do not remember feeling this kind of discomfort. this has only been really since last night.

i had my mucous plug last week - (not the bloody show) period pains for days, soft poo ... but i guess i am hoping!

there is no way i can go like this though especially not for another 4 weeks. i am also booked in for a homebirth so i dont want to go over and be induced.

well... dh will have to get busy with me tonight then and tomorrow morning and tomorrow night etc

whatever it takes!

yangymac - thats funny what you say about carrying out front, this time i have this tight belly right infront of me and its actually smaller than my other two bumps which were rounder.

so i wonder if that is a reason.

ah well!

i guess at least i have an excuse for doing nothing!

devo - how you feeling today!

mommymeggie · 16/01/2010 14:03

I'm feeling the same thing but this is my second pregnancy. I'm now 40+3 and baby's head has been fully engaged for 2wks now. I've been trying everything to kickstart it but some days I can't move at all. The other day I felt baby move in my pelvic and it was like a cringing feeling (so awful I hope not to feel it again!). I had to lie down to take the weight off b/c it was painful. I'm hoping to naturally and soon! I'm hope the same happens for you devotion. I feel your pain!

devotion · 16/01/2010 20:53

hello

the last two days have not been as bad for some reason so maybe the baby has just stretched the muscels there and they have adjusted or he/she has moved back up again.

anyway lots of niggles still and i guess my due date is 12 days away so i just need to focus on that date 27th!

yangymac - hope you are not too uncomfortable.

Mama2b5 - you ok?

I hate it when i started two threads by accident, you dont want to ignore the people on the 2nd thread so you have to pop between the two

no, i not, good feeling alot of discomfort from last nite and today just want to have this baby now - Ampster story was wonderful and so quick it came on!hope!

i have waited this long but these pushing pains are getting on my nerves now!

discomfort also in bum - ahhhhhhhhhh!

GW -it will be over soon - so doubt the 27th that will bring me to 40 weeks!

devotion · 16/01/2010 23:35

I had that bum pain last week.

I thought maybe I had piles but I didnt, it was just the pressure of the baby. Really uncomfortable and felt like everything down there was bulging. I was thinking how will i cope two more weeks like that and now I feel ok again?

Come on the 27th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yangymac - sounds like you might have spd - symphisis pubis dysfunction?

midori1999 · 23/02/2010 23:36

I had this with DS 1, it was fairly bad for about a week, then got really bad one day and as i was walking up to catch my horses for the night I joked if I didn't come back I was having my baby up on the hill. It really felt like the head was about to come out any second.

I went into labour that night, at 37 weeks. I was only in labour for 3 hours!

ChickenInABasket · 23/02/2010 23:43

Devotion, I had this with my first, he was lying really low and the midwife at my 38 week check said the bloody weight of him had caused me to be a couple of cm dilated without even being in labour! Felt like I was carrying a bowling ball down there! The good thing was that labour was fairly quick tho.
