tightenings after having a sweep

Hello everyone!!
Hope someone can help or at least tell me of their experiences. i had a sweep on monday (40 weeks) and since then i have been getting tightenings all day everyday no regular pattern but pretty constant starting lower down and slightely upwards and period pains too. nothing seems to be coming of them and its getting me down so much! i am due to have a c section tues coming and desperatley want a VBAC.could they be early signs something will happen or do you think the sweep hasnt worked? i was 2 cm dialated when she done it 50 % effaced but cervix still firm. she did manage to get her finger in and feel the top of the babies head though and do a sweep.
i have another booked friday morning but these pains are making me so fed up.
Some advice would be great!

I had to have sweeps with both my babies to get things moving. It does do funny things to you, it definitely helps to move things along, but if this is your first baby it could be a while yet before things really pick up even after a second sweep on Friday. You maybe lucky but I found that it took ages before things really got moving

i had exactly what you describe for about a week before both of my first 2 labours,

third one i had a sweep with and had nothing afterwards. until the middle of the night when ds3 was born! lol

This is my second child, with the first i was induced 14 days over which ended in an emergency section. i had a sweep with the first and she couldnt do it as my cervix was still long high and closed.
So not sure about this time as i am 2cm dialated. something must be happening down there will have to wait and see what the second sweep brings tomoz. still getting tightenings but they have eased alot!!!
