Just had a membrane sweep & am an emotional wreck

Have just had a membrane sweep done, & have being crying for the past half hour. Am now really scared about having to be induced, & the whole labour process. Didn't have a good labout experience last time round with DD. Found the sweep painful and uncomfortable, MW said I was already 2cm dilated, am hoping it'll all kick off on it's own.

couldn't leave your post unanswered babybear you are doing a great job and your body has already done a labour with DD, so it's learnt lessons from that and is probably already have a good think about what to do next
try and relax, go for a walk perhaps, or put your feet up and enjoy some tv or playing with your DD.
and good luck!!

Don't worry babybear, i was the same when I had mine, it made me very emotional.
The first time I went on to be induced and it was drama- free! 2hours3mins of active labour.
The second time I went into labour the same night and DS2 was born the day before his due date.

Have a cup of tea and a cuddle with DD.

Ah sending u a virtual hug, it's a very emotional time and it's when you realise that things are happening it can be very overwhelming. Try to focus on the end result and not the stuff inbetween, it will all be over before you know it and you will have a beautiful brother or sister for your DD! Keep yourself busy but don't over do things, and remember every pregnancy/labour is different so try not to let your previous experience spoil the final stages of your pregnancy! Oh and there's nothing wrong with having a bloody good cry either! X

babybear the other thing that just occurred to me is that crying is sometimes part of early labour - best thing is to just let it all out...
how you feeling now?

mojomama · 13/01/2010 19:57

such good advice above, i concur wholeheartedly!

i really feel for you - have a good cry, i bet there's all sorts stored up emotionally from your first experience.

i do hope everything goes smoothly from here for you, good luck.

oh don't be scared you've done 2cm already! well done! its easier the next time around, dd2 was my best labour. i was also induced too! i doubt you will need to be if things are starting though

relax and don't think yourself into a bad labour..... be positive this time its different. just stay calm and focused

good luck
