I know this go in swine flu but I thought I would get someone who is pg in here.

Have you had it? Is it worth the bother now?

just personal choice, i am 37 wks with twins, i had jab 2 weeks ago as at this stage midwife said its safe, also i cant risk being ill once babies are born.pregnant women get different jab and many people who have died from swine flu were pregnant women who were completely healthy.do what you feel is right, for me it was right choice but respect those who feel otherwise.

MummyElk · 13/01/2010 14:00

i've heard it's the more heavily pg ladies who are suffering the most with actual swine flu, it can be quite dangerous.
i either had SF or seasonal flu early december and it floored me, at 20 wks pg. so i would have it personally, but it is your choice of course.
good luck with whatever you do

takes two weeks for immunity to develop so - so long as you go to 40 weeks you will also be passing immunity to baby which is worth it IMHO.

Thanks all, I have just had it! My arm hurts already!!

Baby is moving quite happily so I feel ok

yeah I had a very sore arm for about three days. But then had seasonal flu jab a week later and was fine with that one.Think the swine flu one has evil arm ache ingredients!

Hello
I would not bother!
You hardly hear anything about sf right now and they predicted Jan was going to be really bad.
I researched so much about it in the last few months and found all the things my gp had told me where lies including many icu around the country with many pregnant women in with sf. know people who work at a few hospitals and they confirmed there was none at theirs. my local pct trust would not give me any figures of pregnant women admitted in my surrounding areas. they want you to make an informed choice but they dont want to give you real figures. they are planning for the worst but the truth is its not as bad as they make out!
they've had a nightmare making pregnant get it, docs are being urged to encourage us.
a few gp's told me not to get it because i am healthy and strong and due the end of jan.
Its a hard decision but you just got to do your research and make your decision.

good luck

well devo she had it, but im with you and def wont be getting it also with snow im a prisoner in my house anyway!

(i agree no more driving for you- miss wheels)

more people are suffering with regular flu but we never hear it!

MollieO · 14/01/2010 00:33

This heartbreaking thread might make you think. The OP isn't sure that it was SF but from her symptoms it may have been a factor.

Mama2b5 · 14/01/2010 01:05

MO - i never looked on the thread posted i def believe its a personal choice and with personal belief i wouldnt give it to my LOx4 so i would def not get it done without more research i may sound ignorant and burying head in sand, sometimes you just go with gut feelings and i dont know how the jab will effect ME and BABY everyones body is different! health factors!
DH is with me on this one which helps so much with choice!

mama2moo · 14/01/2010 09:37

I saw that about poor Tangle. How awful.

What side effects did you have after the jab? I have a very sore arm which I was expecting but last night at 1am I woke up with awful stomach cramps across my bump, felt sick and once I had been to the loo I was ok.

Today I have no appetite and still dont feel great. Is this normal?

Just read that story, how awful the poor woman. I just can not imagine that. But like she said they did not find out the cause and there were a few factors there that would have contributed. Plus it may have been normal flu which people die from every year too. I'm not saying it was not sf but because they dont test people there are no real figures.

I am just staying away from bust places, i wash my hands as soon as I get through my front door and my childrens and before i eat.

I also ask people to wash their hands when they come around, they understand and are happy to do it for me. I ask because I live in a block of flats and many people come and go using the buzzers and door handles before you even get to my front door so you could pick up many germs along the way.

mama2moo · 14/01/2010 15:58

I have a few bottles of anti bacterial gel ready for when dc2 arrives - If anyone wants a cuddle they will use it!!!

And, if anyone has even a hint of a cold/bug they will be asked to leave. The last thing I want is an ill baby or dd.

I really feel for Tangle, it must be hard not knowing the actual cause.
