Hello all,

I'm pregnant for the first time (16wks) and wondered if any ladies out there could recommend any of the following...:

  1. A decent pregnancy fitness/exercise DVD. I want to maintain a certain level of fitness/tone during my pregnancy without going OTT. I'm currently swimming 1-2 a week but would like a DVD to do when I feel like it at home.
  1. A decent pair of maternity jeans. I'm living in Jeggings (!) and leggings at the moment but want a decent pair of jeans to last me through the next 24 weeks. Id prefer a slim fit so that I can tuck them into ugg boots. I think (but not sure) that I would like an over the bump waistband.
  1. Any pregnancy/baby's first year books.

Thanks so much...I've picked up a few bits of info over the last 16 wks so could maybe exchange some tips in return!! x

hiya!

Advice to question number 1 i cant answer as i do not know!

I got a decent pair of jeans from mothercare. very comfterble and lasted me throughout my pregnancy and they are still in good condition even though i lived in them!

i have a few very good books. i would suggest going into WHSMITHS or a BOOK SHOP and have a look, there are so many good books out there! I have a book that is brilliant it shows me how the baby is progressing in the uterus up to a 5 year old. it has all in's and outs you need to know to take care of your baby!

Have a look in a BOOK SHOP or something you will definatly find a book that you are looking for!

good luck and congratulations.

I bought a pair of jeans (Authentic style) from funmum.com last week. Soooo comfortable!

1)pass
2) would echo mothercare for reasonable price too -the elastic in my jojomamanbebe ones was rubbish
3) cheesy but true - the mn guide to pregnancy - got given it 5 years ago before i knew about this site and really appreciated the different honest experiences of the mn community. it's only been the last year that i've become a talk addict myself.

3 - Yehudi Gordon birth and beyond, def the best.

Hi,

Sorry not sure about number 1 but...

  1. Tried a million pairs of maternity jeans and the best have been the Mothercare skinny jeans that are in store at the moment. They've got a short over the bump band and look as good as any non-mat jeans. And stay up!!!
  1. Again bought loads of books as am obsessed with researching and the best for me by miles are "What to expect...when you're expecting" Heidi Murkoff and "Guide to pregnancy" The Queen Charlotte's Hospital.
They're both good for reading through but also good to dip into if you want to look up something particular.

Hope this helps

I agree with MumNW--Birth and Beyond by Yehudi Gordon ended up being the only book I needed during and after pg. It's HIGHLY informative, but the tone is that of empowerment, reassurance and understanding. It's excellent. You truly don't need anything else.
