Downs syndrome screening

Hi everyone,
I have my screening test for downs syndrome on the 3rd feb. I am so worried about it, as I've had 3 miscarriages so even if it comes back higher risk i dont think i could have the amnio test. I'm 19 yrs old. Wonder if anyone could provide me with any information on the screening test. Thank you xx

This is my first post here though I've been lurking for a few weeks now!
I decided not to have the downs screening for those very reasons, I've got an 11 year old daughter and had 6 miscarriages in between her and this one (I'm 18 weeks now) I thought of all the times I'd miscarried and if I came back high risk what would I do etc.. I decided in the end not to have the tests and not have the worry x

I would have thought with being young you're low risk anyway? I don't know the statistics though sorry. Maybe it's worth talking to your midwife before you go for them?

Hi I think its a really personal choice but if it wouldnt change any decision dont have it. One thing to bear in mind though is here at Winchester even if you say you dont want the Nuchal fold measurment (during the 12 week scan) if they see anything they will tell. So it might be best to check your hospital's policy

I have a child with Downs. I had the screening tests when I was pregnant and came back low risk. Almost everyone I know with a child with Downs has the same experience. I was 27 when I had him.

I am currently pregnant with DC4. I am now 33. I am not having any screening tests during this pregnancy, and have also declined the automatically offered amnio. (offered as I already have one DC with Downs). I don't want to risk miscarriage and the only way I would terminate this pregnancy would be if the chld had serious physical problems associated with Downs which weren't compatible with life, and I am confident anything like that would show up on the scan.
