CS booked on 28 th flu jab offered on 15 th?

Hi, I have my CS booked for the 28 th of jan. I have been offered the swine flu jab on 14/15/16th of january is it too close to the CS?
My doc says NO way , and my cousin (an obstectric) says I should do it, leaving me a bit confused.
Any MW or doc here who can give me a 3rd opinion?

I'm no expert but am a doctor and personally would follow the advice of the obstetric rather than gp. What are your concerns about the swine flu jab in relation to the cs?

They are both obstetrics in different countries, I am being offered the french vaccination without additives, abroad via the ambassy.
My concern was that the baby would not be protected so close the the delivery so, I might as well wait for a shot after it is born.
I am not sure why my doc says no, he is not that talkative..
Can the baby have problems dealing with the jab if he is born early after it?

I would think te sooner you are protected the better. Your body will start an immune response immediately after the shot and this will increase over a few weeks until you hopefully have immunity. This passive immunity is passed on to the baby and although I am no expert I do not think there are known risks to the baby - to answer your last question: I don't think the baby is at any more risk closer to birth and may even have some immunity after 2 weeks. You could also ask your doc why he is saying no. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I would agree with the last poster: if you are going to have it then the earlier you have it the better. The longer period between the vaccination and the birth (depending on which vaccine apparently the immunity takes from 2 to 3 weeks to reach it's peak), the greater the immunity the baby will have when it is born (this is what my specialist told me).
