I am 37 plus 5 and am in agony most of the time. The movements of the baby are really hurting and even when she is not moving my tummy just hourts all the time. The baby keeps flipping form breech to normal and i am getting concerned that she can still do this at this gestation. It has been painful for around the last 2 weeks and the midwife just keeps saying its normal.

Is it normal to be in this much pain? Yesterday afternoon i couldnt even stand up without being in absolute agony. I am starting to get a bit concerned

Anyone else at this gestation and is this amount of pain normal? The pain is usually across the top and lower left hand side but in general all over the womb

Where is the pain? Is it over your stomach or in your back or in your pelvis?

HappyBump · 11/01/2010 11:55

I had something like this at about 34 weeks but only for a 24-36 hr period of time. I actually couldn't move at all without being in pain, which with a toddler running around as well was pretty hard. I was told by my doctor that it was most likely the baby movement causing trapped nerves and the only thing I could really do was rest and take panadol. Fortunately my pain went away quickly.

If you are worried, you should try and go and see someone or at least ring to find out?

You should go and get checked over. Do you have any other symthoms like headaches and so on?

bigpreggybelly · 11/01/2010 13:47

I have been like that on and off for several weeks now. I'm now 40+2. I haven't been too concerned about it as the baby is still moving alot. Just my body getting ready I think.

PS - some days are awful and I think labour is coming on, then the next day its not so bad but no labour yet.

I have rang the day unit who have said it is cos the baby has ripped my abdominal muscles from top to bottom (I knew she had done this as have been going to physio for it). They said this is why she can still fully turn cos there is no restricition stopping her!!!

I had strong braxton hicks yesterday to and they said this can cause your whole womb to hurt the next day. They said only be concerned if start bleeding as the baby is moving so much she could nudge the placenta.

They said to keep laid down (as this is the only time i am not in agony) and take painkillers every 4 hours. Oh the joys of pregnancy ladies. Still only a week till my section yey

mummytopebs, sorry to butt in to your thread but I was interested in the abdominal muscle separation you mentioned. Last night my baby was punching and stretching right behind my belly button and it was really sore and uncomfortable, and kept hurting even after she'd stopped. It felt better this morning but is still sensitive if she kicks or punches there. I started worrying that maybe it's because the muscles are separated that it hurts there; what was your experience of that happening? When did it happen, and were you aware of it right away? Not sure if I'm worrying over nothing.
Sorry again to hijack your thread; hope you're looking after yourself and feeling better.
