Hello! Sorry no good suggestions, i'm 36 weeks pregnant and can't sleep either. Just thought i'd say hello.

NighEve · 11/01/2010 06:19

No help from me either - 38 weeks on Wednesday and been up since 4am!

At least we will be used to sleepless nights!

MamaLazarou · 11/01/2010 08:29

Hi didsnbump. I have carpal tunnel, too, and wearing wrist splints at night has really helped me.

Now it's just the SPD that keeps me awake instead!

heth1980 · 11/01/2010 09:06

can't help just wanted to sympathise. I'm 32 weeks and sleeping so badly too......many hours spent staring at the bedroom wall! maybe we should start a nocturnal mn group!

mama2moo · 11/01/2010 09:08

Im 37 weeks pg with dc2 and am also suffering with carpal tunnel although not as bad as with dd.

I find that when Im hot its worse because I swell up more. I have turned the heating in my bedroom down a bit and it seems to have helped a bit.

I have also kicked dp out of bed so that I can toss and turn as much as poss.

Just keep thinking that once baby is here it goes, thats what is making me feel better

Hi, another insomnia sufferer here at 32 weeks. Tried horlix last night, that seemed to help, warm baths are effective for me too

bigpreggybelly · 11/01/2010 09:50

CPS is worse if you go to sleep with your hands curled up my midwife told me. So make sure you fall asleep with your hands straight or slightly bent back. It may go away by itself (as mine has).

If you can't hold a cup of tea in the morning because it is so bad, ask your midwife to get you some splints.

Morloth · 11/01/2010 10:09

I have carpal tunnel, for bedtime I put wrist splints on both and then take a couple of paracetamol, all washed down with some gaviscon. Pregnancy is fun!

didsnbump · 11/01/2010 10:30

My midwife said i would have to buy splints myself??
I got up to do stuff until i felt tired enough to go back to sleep but woke ds up and then had to have him in my bed to go back to sleep for a few hours, so tonight i think i will go back to staring at the walls!!

Biggish pharmacies have them.

blondieminx · 11/01/2010 10:44

Sorry no tips, but you're far from alone... it seems the further on/bigger you get, the less you sleep.

I haven't slept throught the night since 6 weeks, and at 39 and a bit weeks I'm currently only managing an hour and a half max of sleep at a time cos I either wake up uncomfortable or needing yet another wee

good luck!

ChunkyChick · 11/01/2010 11:47

Adding myself to the group with a sigh and a nod of understanding. Nearly 36 weeks and can't sleep either. Have carpal tunnel syndrome and sinusitis, plus need to go to the loo about every hour. I've even got a completely blocked ear now. Arrghhhhh!!!!! I need this baby out!

didsnbump · 11/01/2010 13:44

yeah me too, full of cold.

My first pregnancy was never this bad. But at least im used to sleepness nights.
Im now looking forward to babies arrival knowing that at least inbetween night feeds i will get some kip!!

Oh thank god it's not just me! I mean, I'm very sorry that we're all not getting much sleep but I've felt like the only person in the world in those early hours. I'm 35 weeks btw.

I go to sleep fine, but wake up a couple of hours later and just can't get back to sleep. I don't need a wee, I'm not in pain, I'm just awake even though I'm knackered.

It's driving me mad!
