Weird problem - help needed ladies

I know this is a bit gross but need some advice from someone who has done this pregnancy thing before!

Last week (30 weeks) I woke up thinking I had wet the bed... but no colour or smell. So, called my MW who told me to go to the hospital where they monitored me and did a speculum (grim). All was fine - baby heartbeat normal and no dilation so no waters broken. They couldn't really explain what had happened - frustrating! Oh and I don't take baths so not that either...

So, they took a swab and now say I have bacterial vaginosis and want to put me on anti biotics - although I have NO SYMPTOMS!!

Should I take them? Should I expect more tests? It hasn't happened again so should I write it off to the weirdness that is pregnancy?

So for LONG post - please help. It is on my mind...

A

How strange! I haven't had anything similar but didn't want to read and run. Did they scan you to check fluid levels around the baby? Are you still leaking fluid? If your waters had broken you would expect to keep leaking. If the swab says you have bv, then I guess that you do, and antibiotics are perfectly safe to take in pregnancy - I had them twice in my last pg for illness. So I guess in your situation I would take the antibiotics and explain your worries to your mw - she should be able to refer you for a scan to check your fluid levels and put your mind at rest.

I had similar thing with first dc. I thought my waters had broken and went to hospital who said it wasn't waters. Never found out what it was though!!
If you went and got checked out and they are happy, then try not to worry, it's better to get checked out than just dismiss it!!

Hey thanks folks - I am trying really hard not to be neurotic but then when they can't tell you why something happens it is hard not to! Will take the anti-bi's and chat to my MW at the next apt about whether I need a scan of fluid levels.

It's good to talk
