hi,

i am 27 weeks pregnant with number 2 and having the worst constipation ever this week that no all bran and water (taken daily) can help. i am taking iron tablets, and i think its the culprit for such a bad constipation. i had some during my previous pregnancy, but not this bad!

as im TIRED of suffering this week, i am considering using a suppository... do you have any recommendation? and are they all safe?

hi,

i'm 26 weeks and had really bad constipation a few weeks along with the joy of piles!
Was given Anusol cream and Anusol suppositories which i never had to use apart from cream.
chemist gave me lactulose which seemed to the trick for constipation.
Along with less rubbish food and more fruit veg water etc.

I asked my doctor about the best thing to take when I was going to be induced and wanted to ahem..'clean myself out' beforehand.
She recommended glycerin suppositories. Apparently you "pop one or two in" and then wait for them to melt. She said I would probably struggle to hold on for longer than 10 minutes! I went into labour naturally in the end so didn't try them but may be worth a shot for you. You can get them from Boots.

lactulose solution its a liquid, very sweet cos its sugar. natural laxative.

anusol cream was such a releif, thankfully piles hav cleared up now.

also how about movocol (oral solution)? haven't taken it in pregnancy but GP can prescribe - keeps you regular? otherwise you can buy lactulose solution and drink it. anusol suppositaries help both piles and constipation- although mainly for piles.

sounds good ladies, attacking boots tomorrow for lactulose and glycerin suppositories

I've used Movicol throughout which helps prevent constipation - ask your GP for some. Anusol suppositories worked for my piles and you can buy them over the counter - may have to use them for several weeks though.

hi ladies, im all sorted out for the moment, glycerin suppository did the trick.

i will talk to my doc about movicol too, thank you!

i feel calmer now, amazing what constipation can do!
