23 weeks pregnant, sickness bug & stomach cramps

Hi Ladies,

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and have a sickness bug. I started having tummy ache in the night last night, have been very sick twice this morn and have been very wiped out, sleeping on & off in bed all day. I've also been having stomach cramps that have been coming & going all day. The cramps are high up where my stomach is likely to be, no back pain, no pelvic pain. I can feel the baby kicking lots.

I called NHS Direct earlier this afternoon to double check tummy pains are normal when pregnant women get sickness bugs & they've freaked me out a bit by suggesting I could be having contractions. They said to see my midwife but I can't get through to them til the morn unless I go to delivery suite. I really don't want to do that as I'm sure there's no need, i don't want to be made to feel like an idiot!

Has anyone else had a sickness bug about this stage & did you get tummy cramps?

Thanks ladies. xx

I wouldn't overly worry - NHS Direct are absolutely terrible for that kind of thing! They seem to always go to the worst case scenario.

I had a sickness bug at about 20 weeks with similar cramps and everything was fine.

If you are not experiencing any pelvic pain or back pain and the baby is moving around as normal, I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I would still go and see the MW as it will put your mind at rest but it really doesn't sound to me like you are going into labour!

Bloody NHS Direct!!

Thanks HooperMummy. Feeling much better today, no sickness, no cramps. I had no idea a plain old sickness bug could give us pregnant ladies such a beating!

I'm glad you're feeling better - I know how much these things can knock you on our arse!
