Would you give the correct LMP (if you gave the wrong one first)

A truly daft question but I seem to have lost the power of rational thought!

At my booking in appointment I gave my LMP as 26/10 but have since realised it was actually 24/10!

Part of me wants to change it as the extra 2 days make all the difference to me at this stage in the pregnancy (had mc last time).

However I know that when it come to the end of pregnancy it's best to have all the extra time you can to avoid going overdue and having to be induced!

So I'm putting it to a vote - would you correct your LMP

TIA

After your dating scan nobody will pay any attention to your dates anyway ! By all means count the days for your own benefit, but honestly, nobody looking after you will care about 2 days either way. 2 months, yes, 2 day, pffft!

Can you tell that I am aggrieved that my LMP has been overridden by dating scan??

Good luck with this pregnancy!

What you have to ask is, will it make a difference to the care you receive? If you need an early scan for example.

2 days doesn't make much difference at this stage really. Certainly a dating scan can be carried out within quite a big window (mine was at 10+4).

TBH, they'll go with your scan date anyway.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 05/01/2010 17:54

I would just change it as 2 days won't really matter.

I remember having my 8 week scan with our PFB and being unimpressed it had me 1 day less pregnant than I knew I was as I remembered exactly which day I had conceived. I thought it so mattered.

Bumbleconfusus · 05/01/2010 17:55

My actual LMP was something like 22nd April, but they put it down in my file as 16th May after the dating scan (because I'm wonky), so I don't think the actual LMP counts for anything as they never wrote mine down anywhere...

thislittlesisterlola · 05/01/2010 17:56

I understand your concerns but as other wise posters have said when you have scans done im not sure it will make any difference.
I am 13 weeks and my dates have changed with every scan(had 3) and no one pays any attention, abeit it is only few days on or behind.

Your choice but I wouldnt worry.

Thanks all - your right Fab 2 days seems so important to me at the moment!

Pacific how much have they changed your date by (sorry nosy!)

Ginger I've got my dating scan booked already and have had an early scan due to spotting (which matched my correct LMP)

Thanks Bumble and lola - I'm thinking I will change. It's not important in real terms but is to me

I thought they would only change your EDD if your dating scan was a week different to your LMP though or have I got that wrong??

Jamie, they brought my EDD forward by 3 days, so not earthshattering. But as I went 2 and more than 2 weeks overdue with previous pregnancies and I would like to avoid induction, I like my dates better .

I am not really bothered, because I know nobody can induce me unless I agree to it - have been an awkward cow about it before...

Babies come when they are ready and not on your calculated date, nor your scan date either. I think only 5% of pregnancies end on the predicted date, so, really, do not sweat it.

I have also had 4 MMCs and I think I know what you mean by "each day counts", so keep hanging on to that thought. When are you likely to be scanned?

JamieJay · 05/01/2010 18:33

I've actually got a scan at EPU tomorrow and then my dating scan next week.

I had some spotting over Christmas, had a scan with EPU which showed a heartbeat and no obvious signs of blood clots etc. (mega sigh of relief) but was offered to go back tomorrow for another check up to make sure all is still okay.

I've had major luck with the scans, been seen / had dates through really quickly - I know some people have a nightmare getting seen but I can't complain on that one

the will ignore your LMP and go with the scan date so it doesn't matter! Good luck.

MumNWLondon · 05/01/2010 18:51

its only 2 days - so its probably not enough to affect dating scan (unless its a 7 week dating scan which is more accurate) - by 11-13 weeks they are only acurate to nearest 3 days.
