This is my first pregnancy - I'm 14 weeks and not sure what to expect.

When did you start to get a bump...?

My trousers do feel a little tight I think that might have more to do with a few too many mince pies than it does with a baby

I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and about 15/16 weeks and have an obvious bump but everything is stretched to hell already.
I think by 14 weeks you probably are starting to thicken around the middle but unfortunately you do go through a little stage of looking like you ate all the mince pies but it doesn't last long and you will have a wee bump pop out soon.

I remember going to my 16 week midwife appointment at 17 weeks (due to holiday) and saying, "when will I start to show?!" The answer was a couple of weeks later!

Enjoy.

Thank you - it is reassuring to know the 'fattie' stage passes soon! Will be so much nicer to look visibly pregnant than just a bit tubby.

yes I think about 18 weeks - I got married when I was 16w pg and was definitely thicker round the middle but not particulary bumpy at that point.

I know the feeling! I've been desperate for a bump then as if by magic over Christmas.... que many jokes from the girls in work about who ate all the mince pies! I could see a small bump from about 14 weeks, but no one else could tell really. I'm now 25 weeks and have a nice neat bump. This pregnancy seems to be flying by and I really want to enjoy each bit of it so did feel a bit guilty about wishing for a bump - also as mentioned on other threads, We may be eating our words in a few weeks time!

I had no bump at all till about 28 weeks - not sure where I was hiding it - I am quite tall though. I remember going for my 20week scan with a completely flat stomach and getting that slightly horrified look from the sonographer before she started scanning, she obviously thought she was going to have to give me bad news. She looked more relieved than I did to find a perfectly normal baby in there (I'd been feeling strong kicks so wasn't too worried). Your bump will come eventually I promise!

with ds i didn't get a noticeable bump until i was 6-7 months!!! instead i was just much thicker round the middle though i wanted a pregnant bump instead!
This time around bump was much bigger more quickly, and i had a bump by about 4 months. Now 7 months and have a huge basketball out front.

I thought I had a bump at about 16weeks but turned out that was just rather unattractive bloating!! Now 21 weeks and have a neat little bump It'll come soon!

feedthegoat · 05/01/2010 11:05

I was unable to fasten my normal trousers at 16 weeks. It happened overnight whilst I was on a weekend away. I wasn't prepared so had to improvise with elastic bands . I didn't have a proper bump until about 22 weeks iirc.

Mishy1234 · 05/01/2010 12:54

First time I didn't show until about 20 weeks and then it wasn't obvious, just a slight roundness.

This time, I started to show at about 16 weeks and at 20 I feel huge! I also seem to be getting heartburn and the old 'can't do up my shoes without holding my breath' feeling already!

I should be careful what I wish for - since writing this morning I seem to have developed some of that 'unattractive bloating' that First mentioned. I have blown up like a balloon today as if someone has taken a bicycle pump to me!!

I was 32 week before anyone I hadn't told noticed I was pregnant. I had fantastic tummy muscles then though.

Emster30 · 05/01/2010 20:03

I am 11 weeks with my first and I reckon I have a little bump already! It might be Christmas food though.
