Baby wriggling like mad at 36 weeks

Hi

I'm 36 weeks and for the last 12 hours it feels like baby has been having one huge party in there!! It's quite uncomfortable as there is no room left in there!!

I know lack of movement is something to worry about but how about too much movement - is it a sign baby could be distressed or getting ready to make an appearance?

I am classed as high risk as I have gestational diabetes.

Please can anyone help

thanks
Emma

Just to be on the safe side and to put your mind at rest, can you phone somebody and go and get checked out?

It's probably nothing and your baby is running out of room/getting into position but there are occasionally reasons why increased foetal movement need addressing.

Hi Emma

How are you managing with the diabetes? My blood sugars have gone up again over the last week as baby is getting bigger. My baby is moving like mad to, i to am 36 weeks she seems to have days when she is non stop moving and days where she is a bit quiet. I would get it checked out if you are worried to put your mind at rest.

I was in hospital over new year and the midwife couldnt even get a trace on her heart cos she was moving that much she tried for half an hour and then gave up and said they worry more if they stop moving.

But i would definitly ring if you are worried.

Hello,

I can only echo posters above. Probably nothing but best to get it checked out.

It only takes a short test to be sure that they are fine.

Hi - as above ring if you're worried but I raised this my midwife last week (I'm now 35 weeks) as I was getting quite concerned that bubs had a few days of literally NEVER keeping still. Midwife's response was that lots of movement was a sign of a healthy baby and too much movement is just not something they worry about.

Mine moved alot around that time too, but I had winter vomiting virus at the time so I think my upset stomach made it move. It did mean that it moved from breech to head down though so I was quite pleased. It can still move quite a lot now at 39 weeks.

Thanks. I phoned up in the end and they said that they wouldn't worry about it. I have to go in for my weekly monitoring on Tuesday anyway.

Mummytopebs I'm on Metformin now which has helped my sugars. They are creeping up again slowly though so am making a conscious effort to cut down a little more on the carbs in the hope of avoiding going onto insulin.

I am being induced on 18th January at 38+3 and have another scan on Wednesday. At my last scan 2 weeks ago baby was 6lb 12oz at 34+6 and had thankfully turned head down from being breech. Hope she hasn't turned back again though. Have they given you a date yet?

Hi Emma

I am having a section at 39 weeks which is the 20th Jan. I have been for a scan today to check water level as thought was leaking but water levels were fine arrrrgh I just want the baby now. I am so peed off with everything and everyone, my hormones must be all over.

Had the scan today but they wouldnt check the growth cos midwife had only wrote check fluid!!!!! So i see my consultant on Friday so will be asking for a growth one then cos havent had one since the beginning of December, she feels big though

My sugars gave been all over again at minute and things that were keeping it low have started sending it high and vice versa. I can up my metformin though so they might suggest that when i see them on friday, I think i will suggest just sectioning me lol.

Keep me informed x I am so jealous they will induce you at 38~+3 our hospital will not do induce or section before 39 weeks unless necessary

Hi

I am 30 weeks and am experiencing alot of movement from littleun, far more than my first.

Should i be concerned about alot of movement. I am not in any pain.

Thank you
