I was sat downstairs, after having a particulary lazy day and started getting a period achy pains in bottom of my bump.
And then ever 5 minutes a was gettin excruciating pains that would last for about 30 seconds. OMG it hurt!!
Obviously started panicing and spoke to the hospital who said i needed to go in straight away, saying it sounded like early labour and to bring mine and babys bag!
So got to the hospital and they hooked me up to all sorts of machines and the bloody pain died down! Babys heartbeat was fine which was good. She did an ineteral and prosterior cervix is closed. Urine and BP was fine too.

Basically she said it was due to stress and to go home, rest and take co-codamol and if things didnt improve by the weekened to come back.

In the last week and half my and DP split :-( and now he is saying he does love me made a mistake and now im unsure what to do for the best, plus baby is measuring 35 weeks so im scared about that too. Atleast they managed to get me in for a growth scan for next week. But i just feel awful thinking that stress has caused this, then what is it doing to my baby girl.

Still getting the pains now and they take my breath away, but not as often. Its mostly when im stood up and sat down. Lying down seems to be fine now.

Has anyone else been through this? Its worrying me quite alot.

Hi,

I'm pg with first DC (am 31 weeks today).

Interesting to read about your pains, and that it wasn't labour starting.

I'm sorry to read that you and DP split up recently, I'm sure that caused you lots of stress.

Did the hospital say that the baby measuring 35 weeks is something to worry about? Did they change your EDD?

Not really sure what to say, but I understand a bit of what you feel because I'm preg too, only one week behind you!

Jellybeans did they trace the contractions, were they proper contractions or just Braxton Hicks. If proper contractions, I would insist to go back in and have two steroid injections to mature the baby's lung. I would also ring my normal midwife for advice.

I went into labour at 32 weeks (due to stress) and they kept me in for 48 hours and tried to slow down labour enough for me to have the injections.

If it happens again, go straight back, in, don't feel silly or like you are imposing.

And please take care and take it easy

there were blips on the trace, but not strong enough for contractions and she said they could be BH, although im doubtful as have been having BH for weeks now and they were completely different.
when i was having the trace they had died down though so im unsure. im fine now. but just a bit baffeld as to why it came out of nowhere! was hoping me to meet my little one.

they did seemed concerned about her size, and dates cant be wrong as i had scans at 6, 7, 12 and 20 weeks and everything was fine. so been booked for a scan straight away where my crappy midwife said i would have 2 wait till my next apointment 2 weeks away to see.

if baby is extremely bigger, does that mean she might come earier?

JB - I had a very similar thing happen the day before xmas eve. I too am 32 weeks and I woke up at 5am with cramps that quickly progressed into contractions (this is my second so I recognised the agony, they felt v.different to BH). They lasted just over an hour but then went away and I was able to get back to sleep.

I called midwife and she said if it happened again i must go to labour ward, but nothing has happened since, although I was absolutely wiped out on xmas eve.

I too have been under a lot of stress lately (work not relationship though - sorry about you and your DP) and wonder whether this contributed. I too felt baffled that they happened.

Yeah it baffles me too 369. Just worrying now what all this stress is doing to my LO. :-(
