Foetal Movement in 3rd Pregnancy

I am pregnant for the third time and at 17+4. In the previous two pregnancies, I had felt movement by now, but have felt nothing as yet from this baby.

I wondered what other people have experienced? I think I am just looking for reassurance, especially as I had the flu jab at 16 weeks, which I know was the right thing to do for me, but I feel that the need to feel the movement is keener than ever.

I know I haven't 'missed' the movements, so if anyone else has had similar experiences I would be really grateful to hear about them! I just seem to keep reading of people feeling the movements so early, for example 14 weeks which is just making me feel even more

I can fully understand your anxiety... I'm also expecting number three and find I'm more anxious this time about all sorts of things, for some reason. Anyway, you'll probably find out that your baby is just a peace-loving, laid-back little thing (I know I hope mine is!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Or maybe the placenta is in front so it muffles the movements??????

I didn't feel any movements with my third until almost 22w. I had even seen her moving on the anomaly scan at around 20w but couldn't feel anything. I have no idea why not. I was told that positioning of the baby and the placenta can dull feeling of movement.

I had felt movements with dc2 from 11w so was very worried about dc3.

I'm almost exactly the same dates as you - 17 + 3 and still haven't felt anything. I was feeling regular and definite movements with my other 2 by now.

I'm a bit worried as well but at my 12w scan the sonographer said my placenta was at the front of my uterus and I've read this can mean you don't hear movements til later on. Perhaps this is the case for you?

As well, everything I've read says the 'textbook' time to feel movements is 18 weeks + so it's probably still a bit early for us to be worried...

Thanks very much for the replies everyone, and hello MrsGravy. My placenta is not at the front (or at least they didn't say it was at the scan... here's hoping we will get some movements very soon.

greatgoint I havent felt much if anything and I am 21 weeks. On 20 week scan she moves but cant feel it. Also my 3rd so maybe its something to do with having number 3!!! But they have said I have a low lying placenta, so I am just hoping that is the reason.
