Hi

This is my first post so please bare with me - I know it sounds silly but I would like some pregnancy symptoms...

I am now 6 days late and two positive pregnancy tests but after a couple of failed attemps I am a nervous wreck.

Every time I go to the look I am inspecting for any sign of a period. Going to drive myself mad at this rate. Is this normal?

Silly? No.

Normal? Yes.

Congratulations.

Could you perhaps have a private reassurance scan at 7 weeks to put your mind at rest?

I'm 20+1 weeks and still check my knickers everytime I go to the loo. Think we all do it to some extent

emsyj · 29/12/2009 16:40

From what I understand, it's completely normal!! I was a fervent knicker-checker and used to close my eyes and then squint down at my gusset with a pounding heart every time I went to the loo. It was exhausting. I am now 16+1 and it has improved a bit... I am not as obsessive about knicker-checking any more.

I didn't get any symptoms (other than usual 'period is approaching' cramps and bloating) until I was about 6.5/7 weeks, then they all disappeared at 9.5 weeks. By the time my scan came around, I was fully expecting there to be nothing in there! If you're only 6 days late, it's probably too early for full-blown symptoms to have struck anyway - and don't forget, a lot of people have symptom-free pregnancies, so they may never appear.

You're not being silly at all, it's completely normal. I'm 20 weeks with my second and still check my knickers all the time. This time round I didn't get any big symptoms until about 7 weeks and I was terrified but then the morning sickness kicked in.

Congratulations

Absolutely normal - it takes a few weeks to register properly that you are actually pregnant with an actual real baby!

My first symptoms were extreme nipple sensitivity and a full, sicky feeling at the back of my throat (as though I had been eating too much rich food).

Let us know how you get on... and congratulations! XXX

Thanks all,

Don't think i will stop with the knicker checking but at least I know I am not alone. Going to wait a couple more days before going to the doctors just in case.

Don't think I stopped knicker checking until about 20 weeks (am now 36)

mistletoekisses · 29/12/2009 17:36

Congrats!

Defo not silly. In the beginning you check knickers all the time with mild panic.

Towards the end, you start to check pleadingly for show/ waters breaking. Anything to say the baby is on the way.

Oh and I felt relatively normal for a while after the positive pregnancy tests, symptoms kicked in between 7-8 weeks.

MerryMagpie · 29/12/2009 19:03

I feel exactly the same. I went to the doctors this morning and it was odd telling her that I was pregnant when there seem to be hardly any symptoms. I check my knickers all the time as well and seem to be constantly running to the loo. Congratulations though Really nice to feel someone else is in the same boat

STIGZ · 30/12/2009 14:12

dont worry i was the same!

i had all the signs that i thought was my period (tiredeness, sore boobs & cramps) but turned out i was 6 weeks pregnant!

still didnt believe it after 3 home tests so went to the doctor to get it confirmed from him! ............then the morning sickness crept in lol ! and i knew for sure!

congratulations! .x. let us know how ur getting on .x

Congratulations! And you're not silly; my pg symptoms are very mild so I'm still knicker-checking at 8 weeks...
