I am probably not the best person to cheer you up as I am feeling similar - 38+2 with dc3 and utterly miserable. Rest assured though, that it cannot go on forever! I had a niggly night on Friday and thought things were kicking off too but no such luck. Am sooooo fed up today and it's DD's birthday. There needs to be a miserable bint emoticon.

To self induce, try lots of raspberry leaf tea and maybe clary sage?

Chin up, this is the final hurdle x

A man walks into a Doctor's surgery and says, "Doctor, Doctor, I think I've got a mince pie stuck up my bum." With that, he pulls down his trousers and bends over.

The Doctor looks at the man backside and says, "I wouldn't worry - I think I've got some cream for that."

As I am only 26 weeks with my first, I have absolutely no idea how to self-induce but I thought that a joke that is so bad that it's funny might help!

Chin up - you are practically at the finish line and you'll be meeting your wonderful new daughter before you know it!

HooperMummy did a better job than me. I just spat raspberry leaf tea on the laptop....

graciem · 27/12/2009 10:37

yes i did have a laugh at the joke too. you forget that your not the only person in the world feeling like this. thanks for your messages.

sorry no ideas to help you but am feeling like i want baby now - must be post christmas blues and my friend had her baby last night
am 38 + 4 so any ideas how to bring labour on would be great

singalongamumum · 27/12/2009 11:26

LOL Hoopermummy!

I'm 39+2 with DC2 so feeling the same, though lucky enough not to have carpel tunnel or the like. Maximum sympathy coming your way.

Here is what I have read about self inducing:

You can have sex (the hormones in the sperm can kick it off)

You can eat a hot curry (the muscles spasms of the pooh that follows might do it!!!)

Raspberry leaf tea will soften cervix but not actually start labour, sadly.

Sitting on a gym/birthing ball may encourage the baby to engage.

Reflexology and/ or acupuncture can be effective.

That's it! Not a very definitive list, but maybe someone can add to it... Good luck!

its frustrating at the end isn't it....

other ideas for self inducing:
eat a pineapple - am guess along same lines as curry?
lots of exercise / brisk walking (has worked for me both time - went into labour with DS whilst walking on hampstead heath and into labour with DD whilst running(!) (had sudden burst of energy!) in Regents Park. I did look a sight though!
burn some clary sage oil
nipple stimulation

Book something for yourself that you really want to do. Beauty treatment, haircut, meal out with friends etc, then baby is bound to come and ruin your treat, and if it doesn't then at least you have something to look forward to

Have also heard that scrubbing your skirting boards can kickstart things

Im 35+3 and in the same boat. I just want dc2 out now (a bit early I know)

Sleeping at night is awful, 18mo dd is hating me because I cant play with her. I actually thought I might have been in labour on Christmas day - Turns out I just needed the loo

I am going to start walking in a few weeks and eating pineapple again - Both things I did a few days before dd was born.

Good luck
