Given that this is my third pregnancy, i should really know, shouldn't i?

I'm currently 36+4, and am having quite bad period like pains as well as constant backache. Over the past couple of days i've been having lots of BH. Feeling very emotional and tired.

With my first pregnancy - twins - i went into labour at 28 weeks, and with dd i had to be induced, so i've never really gone into labour properly, on my own at term.

Baby is really active tonight and i'm just wondering if this means that things might be happening?

Funnily enough have just posted this to someone else. My labours all started with backache.

Have you had a show?

Hope all goes well

I had symptoms like this for 2 full weeks before DS was born. Drove me totally mad.

Thanks ladies.

Had intermittent pains all last night, still have period like cramp too.

No show yet or anything. Am due to see my MW on NYE, so will mention it to her then.

Still, it did prompt me to start packing my hospital bag at half ten last night...

I wonder if your baby will be here before you meet with MW

Deemented · 27/12/2009 18:03

Hmm... i'm not sure... i'd like to think so, but it's a scary thought!!!

Hi deemented, finish that hospital bag!!

It could be the start of things, but it could be another couple of weeks. That said subsequent babies are supposed to be earlier..

I have felt very similar to you for the past week or so (am 38+4, 2nd pregnancy) I was hoping baby would arrive before my next MW appt as they have been threatening induction, but nope, no baby at all, no show, nada, just a lot of pain!!!

peppapighastakenovermylife · 27/12/2009 18:46

I had pains on and off with my second for a couple of weeks before hand. On the day I gave birth to DD, from the morning I was really achy and periody with peaks in the pain. Didnt feel quite with it, very emotional. Was crying to my friend over email that the baby would never come then had to change my mind mid way through the exchange

Deemented · 28/12/2009 12:01

Humph.

Things have completely settled down here now. No pains, aches or twinges.

In fact i'm feeling better now then i have done for about nine months...!

Reassurring to read that some of the symptoms can be for a couple of weeks. Been having aching lower tummy and last night baby was very active, and my back was killing me. I had a tiny bit of blood this morning in the shower, so I must admit I'm a bit dubious about walking into town and then working tonight!
I'm only 34+3 so I think he should be patient and stay in there a bit longer please! Are you listening little one?!

peppapighastakenovermylife · 29/12/2009 14:43

Aww I'm sorry - both the DC's did this to me for a week or so before they were due. With DS I was in hospital and even the midwives thought it was the start - strapped onto the monitor, clear early contractions but no.

I reckon you are having that final burst of energy followed by a dip and a new year baby

natapillar · 30/12/2009 00:26

my baby is due in 9 days and i have had all the symptoms u mentioned too for the past week. i think it may just be a case of the baby playing a trick on u! @ Deemented.

my third pregnancy was the same.a lot of build up and then nothing for 12 days past my due date.

Deemented · 30/12/2009 14:20

Hmm - i dunno... am having lots of funny pains today. I have lots of lower backache, and again period like pain, which is almost constant - but i also have pain at the top of my bump, almost like someones pressing down on it - it's really uncomfortable! I also feel like i want to go for a poo all the time too - but nowt doing.

I'm a bit worried as i'm here on my own with DD 20 months, as DP has gone to see his son a half hours drive away. He doesn't see him all that often so don't want to call him back needlessly.

Ah well, i suppose only time will tell.
