Hi all,

i'm 34+4wks and have tooth ache that has been getting worse since xmas eve! will try and ride it out (well have tto until tues anyway!) but just wondered if we are allowed to have fillings or something, am kind of kicking myself really as it fell out a few weeks back and i thougt it would be ok as didn't want to risk having 1!!

go to the dentist.
Certain materials are avoided in pregnancy (no evidence against them really) but you don't have to tolerate toothache.

I am a dentist , and I have had loads of dental treatment while pg

I didn't want to have mercury fillings while pregnant as I'd read they should be avoided so I had white ones done instead. I had to pay for them though as even though there is free treatment when pregnant it only covers mercury fillings not the white ones.

Ten years on all three of those white fillings have crumbled and I've had them replaced by mercury ones as my current dentist reckons white ones aren't very strong and always break down, cause problems.
