Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find any good scientific information about the effects of drinking during the first two weeks after conception? Its the festive season and an unplanned pregnancy so there were a fair few nights on the wine.

Don't beat yourself up about it and stop worrying. So long as you stop when you realise your preggy then everything will be fine. Pretty much all of us have been drinking before we had our BFP and no harm done. A bit of common sense is required during pregnancy and not 40 weeks of worrying about every tiny little thing.

Hi,

I was 7 weeks before I found out I was pregnant & I had a fair few nights out in the time I didnt know, DS was fine, born at 39+6, very healthy.

Dont quite know where you would find the info, I am sure someone will be along with links but as onebyone said, dont beat yourself up about it.

I didnt drink through the rest of my pregnancy despite a big birthday for me and a few family weddings, that was my choice though as it is safe to drink small amounts of alcohol in pregnancy.

Try to relax and not worry.

I think youre in the same boat as most women.... dont worry, just get on with the folic acid and obviously no more alcohol.

Congrats

I wouldn't worry. I came home from honeymoon to find out I was pregnant, and I had some alcohol every day on holiday. Don't stress it!!!

There is absolutely no point worrying about alcohol you have already consumed before discovering you're pregnant. Try to relax and forget about it.

I drank a bottle of wine the night before I found out I was pregnant with DS and he is fine.

A friend of mine had one of the wildest weekends of her life when she was 5wks pregnant (unknowingly) and her DD is v bright and the top of her class.

Of course I wouldn't advice drinking in early pregnancy but as MamaLazarou says, no point worrying about what you can't change and I doubt you'll have done any damage.

Don't worry about it - really there is nothing you can do now so don't beat yourself up about it.

The main risks related to alcohol in pregnancy are where alcohol has been consumed over a sustained period. There is no evidence that the occassional drink (or even binge - not that I am recommending it!) causes any harm.

Also in the early days there really is no "baby" and "placenta" just a mass of dividing cells so nothing is being "passed" to the embryo.
