Having twins (due in June 2010)...anyone else?

I was thrilled to find out at my first ultrasound that I am carrying twins, 85% chance fraternal, no one on either side of the family had twins before! We are so excited!!!

At the beginning of the 12th week, we went on a vacation (that was booked before we knew about the pregnancy) to Costa Rica. And I bled at San Jose airport restroom - fresh blood, not a lot but scared me to death, accompanied by needle pinning pain in the lower abdominal area, both sides. We tried to rest as much as we could during the 9 day trip and just got back the other night. Yesterday I had cramping again (but period like this time, not too severe), and this morning had once again, very minor spotting (brown, not fresh). I can't help thinking the bleeding has something to do with the flying...the pressure change, maybe. My doc (2 of them) didn't think it's a big deal so I will just go back to the routine check-up/ultrasound in early Jan.

Anyway, feeling fine right now, and I am keeping my feet up whenever I can. Just want to see if anyone else having twins??

I've just had my twins a month ago and I've got to say, the pregnancy with twins is worse than the birth. There are so many weird and scary illnesses and side effects I was so relieved the pregnacy was over. You will probably get scanned more regularly (depending on the type of twins you are having)and my advise would be to not be scared to ask loads of questions as there aren't nearly as many twin pregancy books as singleton pregnancy books. The stress of carrying twins especially after 30 weeks is bad enough and you dont need the added stress of thinking some thing is wrong only to find out your doctor thinks it's normal. I had a few situations like this and was really worried.

There is also a Multiples forum on this site if you want to chat to others who may be having the same experience.

Just keep your feet up. It's hard work carrying twins but it's worth it in the end.

Hey Dragonrides! Hope you're OK and the bleeding has settled down. Must be such a worry.

I had my 12 week scan yesterday and discovered we are having twins. Due 30th June. DH and I in total shock as DD1 is only 13 months old, will be 19 months by the time the twins are born.

Do you have other children or is this your first (and second!)

Thanks Trudi2009 for the encouragement! My ultrasound specialist said with twins the bleeding will be more common, and I am going in every month for check-up. My bleeding has stopped, and I feel so much better in general today...Sometimes maybe we just need to listen to our body and adjust our activities according to the babies' needs.

MonkeyMargot, I can't believe I found a pal!!! My due date is 6/27/2010 but I was told by my OBGYN that twins usually don't make the full 40 week term. So most likely they will come out earlier, maybe late May to early June. The naturopathic doc said it's better for babies to stay in as long as possible, he has delivered a baby from a 12 month pregnancy, it was 10lbs at delivery and was very healthy. So I think I am going to wait till I go into labor until they are ready! They will be my first children (sounds weird vs. first child ), although unless they are both head down in position, it will be a Caesarean section. So that's what I plan on doing (so far). I got my ultrasound film and a DVD since my honey just started a 10-month project and he's only home for the weekends . I am reading a book called "YOU having a baby", it's quite interesting...would love to keep in touch and learn from each other!!!

Dragonrides there's a thread for people due in June 2010 here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/865115-Becoming-bulgy-June-oh-what-I-mean-June-part-2

Not sure if you're already on it - but there are 3 people (including me!) expecting twins on this thread!

Be good to see you there. I joined a "Due in..." thread on MN when I was PG with my first last year - it was so helpful and supportive, and our thread is still going strong even now our babies are over a year old!

Well congratulations to both of you. I still laugh remembering the shock of my 12 week scan revealing twins. You're both in for a real treat. (even if you become more sleep deprived than you have ever been in your life)

Hi dragonrides
I'm one of the other 3 expecting twins that monkeymargot mentions on the due in June thread. Look forward to seeing you there!!
