I has wicked heartburn with DS. I think my drink of choice for much of the last part of my pregnancy was Gaviscon

LouLouH · 21/12/2009 13:47

Chew ice. saved my life- with both heartburn and nausea.

MarineIguana · 21/12/2009 13:49

Yes I'm wondering if I could make some kind of eggnog-like creation out of Gaviscon for xmas day

LouLouH · 21/12/2009 13:49

Wicked isn't the word for it. ITs plain torture! Even water isn't sitting well with me. Gaviscon it is then!

ah ice, might give that a go. For some reason seems really appealing to me right now.

My diet is consisting mainly of Gaviscon at the moment i'm 30 weeks, not only heartburn but horrible burping too! The IL's are going to be horrified over xmas!

humptynumpty · 21/12/2009 17:22

milk is supposed to be good. obviously gaviscon is staple diet now. The worse part is when you get heartburn and nausea together, it's lovely!!!

Oldi · 21/12/2009 21:04

Kind of glad to hear its not just me - I have BAD heartburn which is worse when eating/just eaten, but I'm seriously hungry all the time so have to eat! Vicious circle

mrsrvc · 21/12/2009 21:08

That is exactly what happened to me. The nausea and sickness just morphed into heartburn. Same last time. I find that Rennie Ice are the best thing (not normal rennie). Better for you than gaviscon too. I also have a cup of hot milk before bed which seems to help with the overnight heartburn at the moment. Not sure how long it will be helpful for though (am 18+4).

Zantac. Would have died without it.

DorindaG · 28/12/2009 00:14

I have to agree with mrsrvc about rennie ice, and warn you not to try the rennie chews - eugh! They're hideous!

Rennie ice have been a godsend; especially as I have to lay off the milk, having had a bit of a bad tummy recently which my midwife thinks may be a reaction to dairy products.

violetbubbles · 28/12/2009 08:18

Thanks for the tip about Rennie Ice; I've never heard of it before. My heartburn arrived a couple of days ago (I'm 13+2) but the nausea is still here too. Oh well, not long now till I get my glow, right? Right? .
