Innies turning into Outties - navel question

So I'm more than a little belly-button phobic, and people keep teasing me that my innie will eventually become an outtie. I'm currently 27 weeks and so far, still an innie.

Do they really change, and if so, when does this happen? - I need to be prepared...

mine didn't in either of my two pregnancies, so it's not inevitable. I did once ask a midwife about it though and she said most people's do, perhaps I am unusual...

CharCharGabor · 18/12/2009 16:31

Mine didn't go out but did go more shallow.

heth1980 · 18/12/2009 18:22

Mine didn't go out, just got kind of stretched!

Slovenlymummy · 18/12/2009 18:31

Mine goes in and out depending on position of baby! Is that weird?! Not properly out, more like a little outie hood on the top. Now that does sound weird!

Fibilou · 18/12/2009 18:47

I'm 35 weeks and mine is still really deep. No chance of it popping out as far as I can tell

lolalotta · 18/12/2009 18:55

Mine popped out, I'm really hoping it goes back at some point! I'm 39 weeks now so not long to find out, lol!

ladyjadey · 20/12/2009 09:18

mine remained an innie at all times! very good cause the thought of an outie made me feel squeamish!

jadey24 · 20/12/2009 21:44

My innie had always been a deep innie & popped out late pregnancy and stretched and got laughed at by everyone coz apparantly it looked like a arse hole lol It got a nice stretchy mark right next to it too. Nw its back to its very deep self

LadyOfTheFlowers · 20/12/2009 21:46

DS1 - Went flat

DS2 - Popped right out

DS3 - Became shallow but stayed in

DD1 - 23+weeks - Still in at the mo, think it will stay in.

Afterwards, always looks like it did before, even after it popped right out with DS2.

My lovely inny which I was very fond of has slowly been progressing towards and outie for the past few weeks. The top hald of it now protrudes, though the bottom half is merely stretched with a little of it still "in". No-one told me about this!!! The first it occurred to me it might happen was when I saw an ad for something that is the belly-button equivalent to nipple daises! I've been assured by friends with kids it'll pop back in once baby pops out. (I'm 26 weeks). It better! LOL!

MummyDragon · 21/12/2009 13:27

If it doesn't pop back in by itself, push it back in with your finger. I did this both times! N.B. no point trying this until after the baby is born!

ShiriDoula · 21/12/2009 13:58

Mine didn't go out, just became flat (or as my husband phrased it: fully effaced)

MrsBadger · 21/12/2009 14:02

like SlovenlyMummy and MeAndACat mine is currently a hoodie

I confess to taping it down with micropore under clingy tops/dresses.

preggersplayspop · 21/12/2009 14:12

Mine went from innie to outie in both pregnancies. Its now really more of a flattie than anything else.

Chynah · 21/12/2009 18:37

Mine is normally a deep inny. It strtched and flattened last time but didn't pop out (thankfully as I dreaded that!) - This pregnancy I'm 23 weeks now and it' s getting very shallow.
