Anyone else had this? The mw told me to eat more! Trouble is I dont want to eat more. I have 3 meals a day and am putting on weight.

I also had to be monitored for an hour yesterday because the babies heart rate was high and I have been having headaches - All fine though.

Is there any supplement I can take instead of eating more? I dont feel great and my appetite is very low compared to normal.

I have an 18mo dd to run around after and a dp who is completly useless at everything so relaxing isnt an option!!

Are you a healthy weight when not PG? Have you put on enough/the recommended or expected amount?

Are you drinking enough fluids? A lack of fluids could give a ketones result.

Is your blood pressure OK?

of course you are putting on weight, you are pg, the baby is growing, you are meant to put on weight.

If your appetite is low (mine is, think it's because of reduced stmach capacity) you may do better having small frequent snacks than trying for 3 square meals
eg when you have a cup of tea have a banana as well.

NO supplement will cause you to stop producing ketones. If you are producing ketones, you are either not getting enough carbohydrates, dehydrated, or are showing signs of gestational diabetes.

Drink plenty of fluids, and increase your carb input.

Im usually slightly over weight when Im not pg. Was a size 16 before this baby, size 14 before dd.

My blood pressure was fine yesterday and has been around the same for the whole pregnancy.

Maybe smaller meals is the best way. I also have diarrhea (sp?) and have had for the last few weeks. I had this when pg with dd so the mw wasnt bothered.

I have always wanted to be told to eat more as normally I can eat like a horse. Typical that now I need to I dont want to.

Right, going to have a banana and some biscuits.

Thanks all

It'll be the diarrhoea thats dehydrating you and giving the ketones result.

So long as you are eating a healthy, varied diet, don't starve yourself and drink plenty of fluids you'll be fine. You're quite far along now so not long to put up with the lack of appetite. Maybe buy yourself all your favourite foods so theres always something you like on offer?

The placenta will take whatever the baby needs and will leave you without if you are not putting enough in though so if you don't feel like you have enough energy eat some more!

You need to drink lots too.
