Blooming ebayers - rant rant

My mum bought me a birth pool in a box as a gift as I am hoping to have a home water birth - she bought it quite early in my pregnancy as she spotted it on ebay secondhand but unused. Consisted of the pool, the liner and a pump. DP and I bought the fill/empty kit seperately.

She had a bit of a saga with it though because the pump didn't arrive with the pool and the sellers refused to answer any emails until she persued them through ebay. Eventually they did send a pump though so we were all set.

Having had a realy positive ante-natal appointment yesterday at 35 weeks I decided to test the pool out to make sure DP could get it up etc. Been a bit superstitious before! I am really cross because the top 'ring' has a puncture in it - quite a significant one as the top ring will deflate within about 40mns

What kind of person sells a birthpool with a puncture in it? I am so cross, it seems such a selfish thing to do. Because the pool is big, it is going to take poor DP hours to track down the puncture and pool is useless without fixing it. thank god we discovered now and not in 5 weeks time when I was hoping to use it.

Pointless post really, just need to rant and warn others to check their BPIB if they buy second hand cos there are some unscrupulous people out there. And yes, I know, they might not have known about the puncture but TBH they were so unhelpful about the pump I am not particularly inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I don't know much about ebay but it might be worth checking with them about this. At the very least, the seller could be blacklisted. I think the rules are that if there is damage, there has to be a photo of it.

I would definitely persue it with ebay. Not sure how far you will get if you've had the pool for some time though? If they sold it as unused then that seems a bit suspicious to me..........how would it get punctured if it hadn't been used?? I would say it's beem mis-sold and you should be entitled to a refund.

thanks guys, we've tracked down the hole - there were actually two about a cm apart, looks almost like a nip from an animal.

Anyway, 'tis fixed . Will chat to my mum if she wants to persue through ebay.
