So embarrassing but its really starting to bug me now. I apoligise beforehand!

Im 30 weeks and for the last few weeks ive noticed changed down below. When i get a mirror and have a look, my lips seem massive and when i hold them back it looks like my inside are falling out. Not how it used to look at all! Inside everything feels alot bigger its horrible.

So sorry for TMI!!

Im so concious of it i havent had sex or let my DP touch me for over 2months.

Is this usual during pregnancy or am i just a freak?

Erm.... well if my experience is anything to go by, it's normal .....

sweetkitty · 15/12/2009 20:59

With my last pregnancy I felt like my pants were holding my fanjo in, felt like I was bursting out as well.

I think it's increased blood supply to the area.

jellybean86 · 15/12/2009 21:02

Oh my god im so glad im not a freak! I didnt know the increased blood flow would make things fatter down there! LOL

It sounds like what mine looks like at the moment (31 weeks)! DH assures me it feels no different . This is my second.

What ever you do dont look down there for at least 6+ months postpartum!

Good luck!

bigpreggybelly · 16/12/2009 08:20

I'm a bit swollen down there too. I hope it goes back to normal.

Squarah · 16/12/2009 10:26

Ditto normal - and don't forget sometimes you can get varicose veins there too which look and feel even worse so it could be worse!!!

newmomma · 16/12/2009 10:56

I never looked at mine last time but I remember the feeling of swelling - think of all the pressure you have on your 'bits' apparently it can cause varicose veins down below with all the weight bearing down in the final stages.

I have to say that things (for me anyway) do look perfectly normal again! Try not to worry.

TheProvincialLady · 16/12/2009 11:02

Sounds normal. You might want to prepare yourself for the intense itching that can accompany the swelling. I didn't get it with DS1 but with DS2 it was horrific and kept me awake at night. Vagisil (a gentle local anaesthetic, safe to use in pregnancy) was a lifesaver.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/12/2009 11:08

Am preg with no 4 and mine tends to get a very attractive purplish blue glow near the end.
Very swollen too.

Might I just hijack and ask, as we are on the freaky fanjos subject, does anyone else feel at times like their innards ane going to escape via their fanjo?

I am feeling pressure at the mo, not baby bearing down pressure, but as if the whole thing is bulging.

Am 23 weeks so am guessing my pelvic floor is just shot? Though I have never had problems with leaking wee on trampolines or anything - thank God.

jellybean86 · 16/12/2009 11:33

Lady - yeah i feel like that too! Lol i think my pelvic floor is gone though. When i cough I pee. If it wasnt so embarrassing id laugh!

I have been having a terrible few days and this thread has made me smile a lot. I guessed it was normal, but concerned that it might not go back to normal as it didn't have chance to from last pregnancy; dd was 16wks when we found out #2 was coming!

RemyMartin · 16/12/2009 11:40

Ds is 18 months now and I still wouldn't dare to look!

MamaLazarou · 16/12/2009 11:52

Mine is the same - horrible, isn't it? Bulgy and bruised-feeling. Nobody warned me about this!

GracieGirl · 16/12/2009 17:58

Me too. I'm 33 weeks with my first. Why does no one warn you about this????

mummydarlingsausage · 16/12/2009 19:19

another one here! i'm 23 weeks and had this now for about 3 weeks. my swellings are all on the inside and feel like they are trying to push there way out (especially when i'm on the toilet - sorry for tmi!) this is my 3rd pregnancy and i also had it with my 2nd pregnancy. the swellings did go down although i'm sure it stretched everything and made it a bit mis-shapen! i can barely look it's so freaky looking. dh says he can't feel any difference though but i hate it! varicose veins are definately the downside of pregnancy for me. i get terrible ones on my left leg and the right hand side of my pelvis

RoseBlossoms · 16/12/2009 21:36

TheProvincialLady- Thanks for the vagisal tip i have thought i've had thrush for the last 3 weeks, will try some tommorrow!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/12/2009 22:29

Ah sausage - so glad you said that about the loo actually.
I felt like a bunch of grapes was going to escape from my bits about a week ago - it only lasted 3 days thank God - now I feel normal on the the loo again.

LaTristesse · 17/12/2009 09:48

So glad to hear this is normal! [relieved smiley] I've been getting increasingly more concerned that my bits may have changed shape forever (have also been reticent about letting DH get too close, so he'll be relieved too!)

Can I just ask though - I've been trying to do some pelvic floor exercises regularly but all this discomfort down there makes it so difficult - I agree with the feeling that the muscles feel shot already (I'm 27 weeks with my first). Is it worth persevering with? I assume I won't be doing any harm by trying to get them to work?
