im 35 weeks pregnant with dc2. i have been getting contractions (or braxton hicks) for a few weeks now.
but last couple of days they have beeen getting stronger and today they seem to be more frequent. they are still irregular though. timed them over last hour or so while i have been on here.

17:18 started timing
17:26 contraction 30 secs
17:47 contraction 1 minute
17:57 contraction 40 secs
18:06 contraction 20 secs
18:43 contraction 30 secs
18:59 contraction 30 secs
19:11 contraction 30 secs
19:23 contraction 30 secs

i had lots of bh with dc1 but not as often. my stomach is going very hard and they are also quite painful like period pains(not enough that i need pain relief but enough to make me stop and breathe if you know what i mean).
i seemed to have a really easy labour with dc1 and only had gas an air a few hours before she was born (to be honest i only started gas and air that early because midwife asked if i wanted it and i figured if she was asking i must need it!)
i know loads of people proably ask same question and i have had a dc before but just wanted some opinions. dont really want to phone hospital if i can help it because i phoned for another reason a few weeks ago and they were very unhelpful!

I do think you need to ring labour ward..as BH are not normally painful..although they can be uncomfortable in late pregnancy...I can remember having to breathe through BH.

I would say it is borderline TBH.

Having had a premie I was advised that ifI had more than 4 contractions in an hour it was worth being checked. By my reckoning you are right on 3-4 per hour.

I would probably ring labour ward as you are still technically pre-term...I would say it is probably slightly more likely they are BHs but deffo get checked.

I would ring too - the frequency would concern me although they are not regular.

My Ds1 was born at 35 weeks and I had this for about a week on and off before he came.

Hope everything is ok for you x

Agree - I've just returned from being in hospital for 3 days due to ongoing contractions, stop/start etc. I am 36+5 but they found I have a urinary tract infection causing the irritable uterus. So now being treated with antibiotics. You may find something similar.

with dc1 i was in hospital for a few days at about 30 weeks because of prem labour due to falling down stairs n they gave me steroids etc. but they managed to stop it. just find our materity ward so unhelpful. have even planned home birth or birthing centre to avoid hospital.
