is this is a sign of things to come? I've had awful nausea and tiredness, but the nausea and dry retching (although no vomiting thank god) has been hitting every day around 4pm and lasting until I go to bed (which has been earlier and earlier or as soon as I get home from work!) - everyone has been telling me "ohh it'll get better now" - well I'm into my 13th week and I feel sicker than ever. Nausea for the last 3 days has started earlier (like 10am) BUT still continued and got worse at the say progresses. Is this is sign i'll be one of the unlucky ones who is sick the whole way through?

Mine got abruptly worse at about 13 weeks and stopped altogether at about 15 weeks. There is hope yet.

Same here- got worse around 12 weeks, finally went away around 16/17 weeks. I know it is easier said than done, but try to get plenty of rest, as getting tired will only make it worse. Depending on what you do, it might be an idea to see if you can work from home for a few days- in my case it really helped. Alternatively use the rest areas employers are obliged to provide for pregnant employees, again BEFORE you get nauseous. Good luck!

thanks all. I'm not happy at the thought of feeling even WORSE over the next 3 weeks, especially as its christmas! but I hope it will eventually stop.
I'm currently sitting at my desk, dry retching and its the christmas party tonight (which i really don't want to go to .. )
Have not told work yet (plan not to tell them until Jan, as I had a MC earlier this year so want to be really sure) so everyone jsut thinks I look a bit rough.

I'm really sorry and feel bad about doing this to you, but there are the unlucky few of us who continue to be physically sick from day 1 to week 40, several times a day. I really really hope its not you, but the only reassurance is you get used to it - you drink lots of water so there is something to come up - nothing worse than puking bile - eventually work out if there is a particular trigger. The chances are it will ease over time, but the best advice I can offer is distraction, ginger tea, old fashioned gingerbread, polomints, early nights and lots of takeaways for the husband/boyfriend so you dont have to face food at your worse times
best of luck

Hi, mine was just as bad at 13 works, but am just over 15 weeks now and it has miraculously stopped. Hope yours does too.

In my first and second pregnancies, sickness was definitely worst in wks 12-16 but really subsided after that - don't worry that it will go on forever! i think people have different patterns and it's not just 1st trimester = sickness, and after that it's all roses. Really hoping for you that it will subside v soon, it's not fun at all.

Hi, I hope you will excuse my sticking my oar in here but I wanted to advise everyone that a few of us have started up a HYPEREMESIS AWARENESS thread for support for women with severe NVP or Hyperemesis.
