Hi,

Ive had sore cracks in the corners of my mouth thoughout my pregnancy and had the same last pregnancy too. I read that this can be a sign of vitamin B deficiency? Also i suffer with terrible anxiety towards the end (im 38 weeks nearly) and while i was looking up vit B deficiency i read that anxiety can also be a sign!

Is it ok to take a vitamin B supplement while pregnant? I really would like to try it to see if it helps with my anxiety..but obv dont want to take anything which could harm baby. Anyone know if it is ok?

THe thing about a B vit supplement (and I would suggest a complex B vit over taking an individual one as sometimes taking just one can mask the side effects of being deficient in another - plus they all kinda work hand in hand) is that they are water soluable and so anything you don't need you will pee out (and what a pretty shade of lumious yellow your pee will be! Don't be alarmed!)

It won't hurt you or the baby (unless you are taking MEGA doses, say, two of these per day www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=44&prodid=665 then there is the possibility of nerve damage. But you'd show signs (tingly extremities) and as there's no reason for you to take such high doses in pregnacy then I shouldn't imagine this is a senario you'd encounter ).

I have had a problem with the corners of my mouth cracking before I was pg, and the dentist said this was because I was drooling too much at night (sorry if TMI) - he suggested putting vaseline on my lips to protect the corners. However didn't know about the anxiety side effect.

Thanks wibblela. You could be right, ive never heard of that before. It is only when im pregnant and stays the whole 9 months! Really sore

Will keep on with vaseline as well thanks
