anyone abstaining from sex in 1st trimester?

Expecting #6, only just coming up to 5 wks so very early days but had loss at 6 wks last year and really nervous about sex now.

Dh is very understanding, when will I feel safe again?

I know it was probably nothing that we did but we had sex the night before the mc and just can't help worrying.

Hello! Sorry about your loss last year and congratulations. I had a miscarriage in August this year. We had had sex the night before. I got pregnant again the next month, and felt really worried about having sex for exactly the same reasons. However, I knew really that the miscarriage had had nothing to do with having sex, and when we DID have sex with the new pregnancy all was absolutely fine (although after about 6 weeks, I felt so sick and tired that sex was the last thing on my mind)! From what I've been told, I think it's very very unlikely indeed that a miscarriage could be caused by having sex, unless perhaps you have high risk pregnancies/problems with your cervix etc. Good luck!

Lucky your DH. I am not having sex. I'm almost 8 weeks, We have had 7mc's and DH is being understanding. I have told him I will feel more comfortable with hving sex in teh second trimester

Hi, I'm 13 weeks & 2 days and havent had sex since I found out I was pregnant just after my first missed period. I had a miscarriage earlier this year & like yourselves kept thinking it was something I had done, although I know deep down it just wasnt meant to be. Am so scared of the same happening that I just dont want to risk it & to be honest have totally gone off sex anyway too, much to my other halfs dissapointment. I'm sure allot of other women must feel the same? Cant seem to get my head around how being pregnant can make some women rampant sex godesses! Not me unfortunalty! Not sure if I should try it for the sake of my other half though now that we are coming in to the second trimester?????

Hi, I abstained from sex in the first tri after two mc's on doctors advice. There is no definite link but with recurrent mc's they do recommend abstinence in the 1st tri. Second tri is fine though!
