Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what normally is, um, checked at the 6 week post natel check?

I had mine yesterday, and it ended up being just a chat.

Whilst I wasn't exactly looking forward to being examined, I had always thought it was a case of checking things had returned to normal(ish).

I had a vaginal birth and a second degree tear if that affects what they would do.

Enlightenment appreciated

thanks

Katy

I would have expected an external feel of the uterus ie squishing down on your tum
Did you have stitches? I would have also expected them to check how the tear had healed

mine consisted of her writing me a prescription for contraception - nothing else! No questioning - didn't even touch me!

Mine was just a chat too. I turned up expecting to be told to whip my knickers off and get on the bed so the GP could check my stitches etc (I had a 2nd degree tear too) but they didn't. They did strip DD off and check her though, and discussed contraception with me. If you have concerns you can make another appointment and ask them to check.

They looked at DS, talked to me, and that was it. I thought it would be more too
