I am 33 weeks and the babys movements have been really painful today. For the last few hours keep getting really strange sensations over the top of my womb and at the bottom and down one side, baby is still hurting me with movements but this other feeling is a strange sensation i cant explain it, it takes my breath away

Sounds quite similar to the contractions I had. But braxton hicks can be quite strong (so I'm told). It's difficult to know - call your midwife/the labour ward if you're worried.

I'd say they're probably Braxton Hicks, which aren't proper contractions. They feel like tightenings across the bump and can be really uncomfortable/painful.

Contractions for me were akin to period pain (although far worse as things progressed )

I'd say they sound like Braxton Hicks... When my contractions started it was more of a very deep back pain/ tightening that felt like a wave getting tighter and tighter before releasing. I definately felt the early contractions in my back more than my bump.

If you're at all worried, phone your mw who can wire you up to a CTG and check.

Sounds like BH to me

My contractions went more like ow-ow-ow-ow-ow-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-OW-ow-ow-ow-ow

But yes do call mw if you're at all concerned

my contractions felt like strong period pains.

If your concerned contact your MW

They are like a kind of tightening but the bump has felt tight for a few days now. It does feel like i want to push like there is pressure. I rang the hospital who said take some paracetemol and ring them back if it doesnt ease. The hospital is 30 min drive away down country roads so dont particularly want to go but cant explain this feeling

Contractions felt like dysentry stomach cramps for me!

Hope all goes well for you.

My waters broke at 2am, so tried to go back to sleep.(wrong thing to do - I now know) woke up at 8am, with deep back ache, like period pain, but not painfull, however it was every two minutes! As soon as I started walking, they stayed at every two minutes, but quickly got more painfull. The head was on show, and I was pushing at about 9.30. Don't know what it was like for anyone else? But I would describe those contractions as really bad period pain, very low down that totaly take your breath away, you can't concentrate on anything else!!
Anyway - to cut a long story short, I don't think yours sound like contractions - lol. more like braxtons ?!

Hi,

I'm in full agreement with everyone else here. What you are describing definitely sound like BH's.

My contractions started mildly (until I was induced that is!) but it started out exactly like very mild period pain, reaching a slight peak then subsiding then disappearing for a few mins. They gradually get stronger until you can't speak during one. Well if you're induced, they'll generally start stronger, feels like EXTREMELY strong period pain x 1000 or more!

I'm suffering from BH's in my 2nd pregnancy so can clearly feel the difference but I must say BH's can be bloody uncomfortable and painful also!

I found out when having my dd that if you have to ask what contractions feel like, then you certainly aren't having them. Sounds more like Braxton Hicks.
