Light bleeding at 39+2, but no mucus

Earlier this morning, I noticed very, very small amounts of darkish blood when I went to pee. I put on a pad to monitor it, and only a couple of small spots have appeared there, and there are still small amounts when I go to the loo. It's definitely coming from my vagina, as I poked tampon an inch inside to see whether it would come out stained, and it did (very lightly though). There are some membrane looking bits.

Is it likely that it's my plug starting to go, but that I'm getting blood before the mucusy products kick in? The baby has felt like its been banging hard around my cervix for a week or so.

Everything else is otherwise fine: had a check up on Friday, which was all good, and the baby has been moving at lot (and is as I type). Lots of bump tightenings and hardenings too, which make me call out sometimes when they're strong, but no pain (just discomfort).

It sounds like thing might be moving. I noticed the blood before the mucus. My waters went 6 hours later, so fingers crossed for you.

Maybe things are kicking off. I was a bit alarmed when I first saw blood, but I feel fine otherwise. I might call the midwives for a bit of reassurance later if anything else changes.

I would call midwife and ask her advice, as long as blood not gushing, it is probably ok, but bleeding and spotting needs medical advice

it might be that your cervix is starting to dilate hence a bit of bleeding, but there can be other reasons for bleeding

Okay, I called the delivery suite and they said it is probably nothing, but that it would be best to pop up there, so that's what DP & I are going to do. I feel happier knowing I'm going to get checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Any news Covy?

I hope you are (both) doing well.

Things were fine, thank you! They ran a few checks and put me on the monitor for half an hour, and decided that the blood was probably a precursor to a show, which the midwife thought would happen within a few days. Not much more has happened since though; just a bit more spotting, no show, and the crumpet was due today. Hopefully there will be some developments over the weekend!

Nothing as yet happening; I'm getting a bit bored with pregnancy now. Come on, baby!
