Yesterday i thought it was happeneing, from 11pm til 4am i had contractions 6 mins apart some painful and some ok to handle and they eased right off and then disappeared?? i woke up with a huge amount of mucus running down my leg...ive had loads of discharge since Tuesday following a S&S!

Surely it cant be much longer! Im due to be induced next wed and would really like baby to come on its own before! Do you think i have much chance?

dd was 10 days late and came out on her own, i up until the morning she was born i didn't have a twinge, pain or anything - fingers crossed for you

HeadFairy · 04/12/2009 17:11

OMG Wishing! Can't believe you're so close to meeting your baby. We passed by on one of the conception threads in what seems like a million years ago! I hope you're well, apart from of course just wanting your baby out NOW!

I'm no expert at any of this stuff, ds was born via el cs, but my sister always swears by a long walk, and climbing stairs. Apparently the movement helps the baby slip slowly down further and further and the pressure of the baby's head on your cervix is what gets things going good and proper.

Good luck with it all, hope all goes well. I've only got three weeks to go, but I will look out for a birth announcement!!

headfairy Im so pleased to hear from you! 3 weeks wow!! your so close too! hope you dont go over! Ive walked and walked and walked it just doesnt seem to want to come! aaaarghhhh i know it will come when its ready but it has been such a long time coming every extra day feels like another month!

All the false starts are just making it worse! nancy which it would just happen instead of all this what feels like teasing!

Aw, must be so frustrating for you. My sister did a 2 hour+ walk to get dd2 going! I'm not sure I could manage that now, but perhaps I'm not that desperate yet!

nancy75 · 04/12/2009 18:13

someone told me to eat pineapple to get things started, also walking up and down stairs. i think i tried everything tbh, don't know if any of it really works! i can understand your frustration, what really wound me up were all the phone calls - have you had it yet?? even from my mum, like i would have forgotten to tell her!

butadream · 04/12/2009 18:16

Walk in the park in the morning, had lunch, went for a nap, woke up at 6 pm in real labour

Wishing · 04/12/2009 18:54

Same here nancy im getting hundreds of texts calls etc which i know is nice but i am repeatdly telling people i will let them no! Ive stopped answering home phone and asked immediate family to ring my mobile so i know who it is before i answer which my parents thought was ridiculous! I just cant seem to think about anything else when the phone rings 10 times an hour with people asking where is this baby! When i answer they say "what are you doing answering this phone? You should be having a baby where is it?!?" Its so frustrating when you hear it 100 times! why people seem to think they wouldnt know if this baby had arrived i have no idea! Believe you me by the time it does decide to arrive everyone will know! Hahahahahaha xxxxxxx

I dont think anything will bring it on, ive walked, ive eaten pineapple, we've tried sex, ive cleaned, been drinking rasperry tea - you name it ive done....even 2 sweeps!

DS was 13 days late. Arrived on the Sunday evening when I was booked in for induction on the Monday morning. And I didn't have any symptoms until labour started on Saturday morning. You've still got time!! Fingers crossed for you .

HeadFairy · 04/12/2009 20:22

Oh you poor thing.. have you got a ball you can bounce on? It's just about the only thing left that isn't on your list!

I will hopefully manage to avoid all this because as ds was a cs, I'm booked in for a repeat cs on 31st Dec... I've got a week between my due date and then to try for a vbac.. and hopefully everyone will be too preoccupied with Christmas to call me 20 times a day!

ssmile · 04/12/2009 20:41

Good luck hope it comes soon. I tried everything, walks, raspberry tea, pineapple (Ate whole one and I hate pineapple.... had to swallow each piece with mouthful of water!!), sex, 2 sweeps, 3 rounds of prostain stuff and still nought, by this point was 15days over. The Consultant had space on her list in an hours time as it was easter bank hols so opted for a C-sec as had had enough and they couldnt break my waters. Sometimes they just dont want to come out! She is still stubbon to this day... but lovely
If there is a next one I am not telling anyone the proper due date to avoid the phone calls 'isnt it here yet...'

NoChristmasMojo · 04/12/2009 20:58

both of mine were 2 weeks late & needed to be induced. (Ds1 was 16 days!)

Both times were fairly straight forward and it was actually nice to have a "date" to go straight in, instead of worrying about wether or not I should go to the hospital. I thought induction meant a long & difficult labour but not at all in my case. (DS1 12 hrs, DS2 2hrs!)

If you are offered a sweep I would say go for it - I think that it did help both my labours progress much quicker and I am sure I read somewhere that statistically 75% of overdue women will go into labour within 48hrs after having one. i am obviously in the over 25%!

Good luck, they will come when they are ready.

Wishing · 04/12/2009 22:49

thanks everyone! Bouncing on my ball as i type headfairy! and rocking and rotating round, its obviously just comfy in there!

ive had 2 sweeps and they dont seem to have done anything, i think is cos i thought it was definately happening yesterday and was up most of the night that im tierd and cranky today and thinking its never going to happen!

i had contractions like you for a week before my 2nd son arrived. I then went into hospital for a checkup very late on to arrange a date for induction and they examined me and i was 4cms. so fingrs crossed all your false starts will suddenly turn into the real thing.

LJ29 · 08/12/2009 19:44

Hi wishing! We also spoke on the conception threads ages ago. Can't believe its about to happen for you! Anyway I had my little bundle of joy Harry 12 weeks ago! Can't believe I'm a mum of 3. Best of luck.

MeltedTreeChocolates · 08/12/2009 20:07

My baby was induced twice after being ten days late. Still nothing happened. They ended up just breaking my waters to get me started. Urgh he has his parents stubborn genes.....

weaselm4 · 08/12/2009 20:12

I had two nights of contractions before being induced with DD (2nd child though). I had the gel at 9am and she was born by 3pm. I really think the contractions I'd been having had really helped. And I stood up a lot.

Hope you get there before induction, but if you don't, they're not always bad!

Best wishes
