Face ache II

Have put this in general health but it seems a bit quiet over there...
I have just got rid of a 3 week long cold and cough but am left with this awful pain in my face.
It really aches along my cheekbone and my teeth/gums. Usually along the top but sometimesmy botttom jaw too, on the right side. I can't work out if it's my teeth or sinuses or what. I don't think it's my teeth as it seems too general a pain, not localised to one tooth. I don't think!
It's so painful. I'm 34 weeks pregnant so can only take paracetamol which really doesn't even take the edge off. Last night I slept on a hot water bottle which gave some relief but not much.
Any ideas?

Neuralgia?

sinus infection affecting the roots of your teeth!!!! Can make all the teeth feel painful although it will only be affecting a couple. Get to docs/dentists for antibiotics.

Thanks for the replies. Have tried inhaling Vicks and Olbas but not seemed to shift anything.
Will have to go back to docs I guess.

Also, could either make you sick? Was very sick last night and have been a little sick today (felt queasy then had to change DS's nappy - bleurgh!!)?

Sounds like sinusitis - see your doc as usually that only resolves with a course of antibiotics. Saline nasal spray is good to use as well to unblock things.

blondiep14 · 02/12/2009 12:48

can you have sinusitis without feeling bunged up?
sorry for all therandom/silly questions!

yes

I had something very similar to this with my last pregnancy and it got worse and worse until I was in agony. My doctor ruled out neuralgia and then sinusitis. Eventually after a couple of weeks, the pain localised to one particular area and it turned out I needed a root canal. Just thought I'd add that in case it turns out you don't have sinusitis. Would have saved me a lot of pain and trouble if I could have worked it out a lot earlier!!

I've had this a couple of times this pregnancy - a cough/cold virus (believed to have started with tonsillitis) which then spread to sinuses. Its hideous I think I did a thread at the time entitled Face Ache and got a few good tips but really, I just had to wait for it to go (about 10 days iirc)

blondiep14 · 02/12/2009 17:19

Hmmm, REALLY hoping it's not tooth related, I just hit 30 with no fillings!
I think I shall pay a visit to the docs and hope they will give me something to clear it up, it's so painful, more so at night tho today it's been quite painful but everything seems worse when it's dark and all you can hear is DP, DS and DDog snoring their heads off & I'm sat there in agony !!!
