how long after it subsided did it take for you to get your strength up again?

I had it badly for about 8 weeks (hospitilised twice) but am much better and eating a fair bit now. I am still very drained though and wondering if this is the after-effects of hyperemesis or just pregnancy?

ANy experience?

It took a good while. TBH, I never felt properly well until after the delivery. Just try and eat as and when, and get as much rest as possible

I had hypermesis until I was about 22 weeks-ish pregnant. It took me about a month to feel recovered and I had about 6-8 weeks of feeling good before I started to feel tired again!

nickytwotimes · 01/12/2009 21:18

Gosh, that was quick - thanks!

I guess I have been very lucky that it is lifting at 13 weeks. Thank God. I have stuffed my face yesterday and today!

Hopefully I should be perkier for Christmas at this rate.

I was sick both times for the whole pregnancy but never quite enough to need to be hospitalised. By around 30 weeks it slowed down to only three or four times a day

It went the second I gave birth but then took a while to feel better but that could just be pregnancy / giving birth. Will never know

nickytwotimes · 01/12/2009 21:40

Ah, yes, peppa.
Not very clear cut, is it?

I know I am impatient, but I am so glad to feel better, I am just keen to get back to normal activities, boring though they are!

I was in hospital at week 8 and week 12 and was sick till 32 weeks and felt sick up till the birth but could finally leave the house for short spells.
I felt awful for weeks my blood count was so low but did start to feel human eventually after being recommended floridix to help with my iron levels.Never sure if the 2 were conected.

Im not being sick anymore..but still feel fairly pants at 18 weeks..with dd2 and ds2 i still feel first class until I delivered

westlondongirl · 02/12/2009 11:58

Mine stopped at 13 weeks and although I continued to feel tired I think that was just normal pregnancy. The relief of not being sick anymore was amazing. Certainly 3 weeks later I felt pretty good again. Just don't rush yourself because evreyone is different and your body needs time to recover. Good luck

jlo1234 · 02/12/2009 12:08

it took me ages to get back to 'normal'
i had it until around 20 weeks and was hospitalised twice and just felt week and drained after that for aages. give it time and u will be ok soon x

I stopped being sick the morning after I had ds . Absolutely awful and one of several reasons why ds is an only. Hospitalised several times and had a gastroscopy whilst pregnant because I brought up blood when I was sick so the consultant assumed I had an ulcer (I didn't).

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 02/12/2009 12:19

different with all 3 pregnancies - the only one I had a 'proper' 2nd trimester was my 2nd. Last (and final) preg I was sick all the way through. However the moment the baby was out I felt fab.

Thanks for all the replies.

The relief that it is going is immense. I had my first cup of tea a few days ago and it was like manna from heaven!

I am so glad it hasn't lasted longer (hopefully). I was dreading having it until 20 weeks or worse.

No way will there be another one after this. I had a pukey pregnancy with ds and that was bad enough. I wouldn't go through what I've had this time for anything.

I had it really bad from 7-18 weeks and then was still sick about 4 times a day until 42 weeks so I didnt really feel better until after delivery but I wasnt any more drained than other new mothers.

It took me a long time to be able to eat anything in normal quantities though and I still cant drink with meals as that was a trigger for me.

Ugh, feel funny thinking about it. Currently ttc no 2, must be mad!
