Just had 20 week scan and sonographer was "85% certain" it's a boy. Your experiences?

Hi all,

We have just returned from hospital where DW had her 20 week scan. We decided to find out the sex to help us choose nursery furniture, etc.

The sonographer said he is 80-85% certain it's a boy. We are not fussed either way, but did expect a definitive answer!

I was wondering if anyone on here had ever been told anything similar, and whether they ever get it wrong?

Thanks all,
One excited daddy to be.

Our sonographer told us that determining the sex at the 20 week scan could never be 100% definite. And SIL reports that one of her friends was told one thing and baby popped out as the other.

i ws told at 20 weeks scan that Ds was a DD. i had a scan 2 weeks before he was born, as they thought he may be breach, and when asked if i knew the sex got a shock when they said boy! luckly i had bought all neutral anyway.

I don't think they like to say 100% but the lady who did mine said that she is 99.9% certain and gave me a close up of the willy!

Perhaps bubs was being cheeky and not wanting to show off?

At my 20wks scan the sonographer said from what she could see.. as cord was in the way!! that she would put money on the baby being a girl..
At a scan at 25weeks it has grown a willy and scrotum!!! I have another scan next week and will be asking again.. but looking at the piccies am fairly confident it is another boy for us..

At my 20 week scan the sonographer said ti was a girl and could see the shawdow of the labia. I asked at 30 weeks and baby had grown a huge scrotum - a couple of days before I had him I had a scan and could clearly see his willy floating between his legs!

I think if they say its a boy, they are more likely to be accurate than if they say its a girl - if they say its a girl he could just be hiding it...
