As the title says, i had my bloods taken at 18 weeks for the triple test and the midwife said that the results are based on the 1st lot taken and the 2nd put together.
Well now i am worried because if something was to come up in my tests that needs me to have an amnio, i am too far gone for one, well i will certainly be too far gone by the time i would know i will need one!
I am probably just worrying for nothing arent i????

If the results meant that you needed/wanted an amnio, an amnio can be taken for many weeks after 18 weeks - after all, a lot of amnios are taken after problems seen at the 20 week anomaly scan.
And in the absolutely worst case and unlikely scenario that there is something wrong with the baby and you would want to terminate, terminations for fetal abnormality are legal up until term (not that anyone would want to be in that position).
(Most triple tests are carried out on only one blood sample - but there is one place which combines the results of a nuchal scan and first trimester blood with the second trimester blood result to get the risk figure - is that the one you had?)

Mum's age is always part of the calculation whatever method they use. They add all the risks together - mum's age risk, scan risk and the risks from the different blood markers - to get one risk figure (in theory the more things they add the more accurate the final risk).

oh right, i didnt realise that, i thought that if you were over 35 THEN your age was brought into it. Thanks for the info xx
